  1. The flower looks like gorse to me but I can’t see any thorns or prickly bits on there so it’s probably Scottish broom. I’ve got two brooms in my garden, one pink and one white but the flowers don’t resemble this.
    But…. a flower by any other name ….. it’s beautiful.

  2. Gads! Broom is one of the most aggressively invasive of exotic weeds here! I will be pulling some on Wednesday. As common as it is, no one seems to know for certain what it is. Most of us know it as Scotch Broom (which means ‘Scottish’), but it is probably from Spain. There are other species, but they are not as aggressively invasive. Some are rather tame cultivars like that in your picture. Even though they are very prolific with bloom, and resilient to chaparral climate here, I have never planted any, just because the look like the species that is such a serious weed.
