What is your favorite part of the town/city you live in.
I live in Feldbrunnen, a village, with about 1,000 people and half as many cows, although the cows tend to spread themselves around.The favourite part is the country part where the cows live, they love to have their photos taken.
And what Country do you live?
I live in the country of cheese fondue, banks, and yes, of course cows, known as Switzerland.
Today just happens to be the Swiss National Day, something like 4th July. I took this photo in the supermarket a couple of years ago, showing what we can buy. No, I do not have a flag, or a cup with a Swiss cross. I do have a red cotton nightdress with Switzerland written across the front, together with the national Swiss cross emblem. Not that I am patriotic, but I just have a taste for strange things. Tonight there will be a firework display in our local town of Solothurn, children will be walking with their lanterns and a few speeches will be held. There will be fires on the mountain tops and there will probably be bar-b-ques everywhere. I will be taking it easy, reading a book and nothing special. My cat will be hiding under the bed, as he does not like fireworks. Any planes flying over Switzerland will probably think there is a war going on with the bangs, smoke and fires.
Would you rather wear clown shoes every day or a clown wig every day?
Does this answer the question? No, I usually wear Sketchers shoes at home, as I find them the most comfortable, and have problems walking due to my MS, although I only need a stick. These are our universal shoes, available for everyone that has garden work to do. They love mud and dirt and you can shower them down with the garden hose when you are finished. Both Mr. Swiss and I wear them, as our feet are about the same size. We might look like clowns, but at our age, who cares. As far as the wig is concerned, I prefer Mr. Swiss with the Bruce Willis look and my hair colour (grey, silver?) is something special. I had to wait years before I got it.
Which way does the toilet paper roll go? Over or under?
I almost forgot the toilet roll. I grew up in a family that were never logical to say the most. My mum and dad would always hang the roll so that the paper was under. It did not look good, but not knowing any better, I did not realise how complicated this is. However, the day came when I ventured into the outside world and realised that there was another method. Yes, I am now a follower of the toilet roll that hangs over. Much easier to tear off of course.
What do you do to make a living or during the day?
Hoovering & mopping the floors, ironing, cooking, washing, gardening and generally organising the logistic of the home, together with my consigliere, Mr. Swiss.
If you are retired what mostly occupies your day? Or if you are a student what are you studying?
Unpaid worker for WordPress to keep one of their blog sites alive. I am continually taking photos of everything and anything.
I study the intricacies of Swiss German, as if I did not, no-one would understand me in this country.

I survived last week and am looking forward to surviving the next week as well.

I think your answers are all great. The cow is beautiful. I like to photograph cows, too. You response about the planes flying over and thinking there’s a war going on made me laugh. I agree with you about the hair. My Grand-aunt Mae had the most beautiful long, silvery-white hair. She used to let me brush it. I loved it and couldn’t wait to get my own hair like that. It’s working really hard on getting that way. 🙂

Only my hair is short and cropped, to bring the silver highlights out more. I had long hair in my teenage years, Now and again I try it, but it doesn’t work and I cannot be bothered. It really does sound like a war here at the moment. The bangs are increasing and getting louder. My cat is sitting next to me here and her ears are quite upright on her head.

Aunt Mae controlled her hair by wearing it in a bun. But, after her brain tumor, her hair was short. My husband prefers long hair, so I wear it long, although at 100 degrees around here, short would be a lot cooler! Your poor kitty. How long does the banging around usually last?

The noise continues until around midnight from the fireworks,although the big celebration in town is over by 10.30 in the evening. As my husband is a contender for a Bruce Willis lookalike, he does not have a lot to say about how I should wear my hair and I never really asked him. I remember the flower power days when we all had long hair, but those days are now gone.

I remember the weekend of July 4th. The fireworks went on for several days. The 4th was on a Monday…it went the whole weekend leading up to the 4th. Our grand-puppies don’t like all the noise either.
David has told me that he wants me to be comfortable, long or short is up to me. But, I choose to keep it long because I know that’s what he likes best. If he were being an ogre and demanding that I kept it long, I’d be at the salon faster than I could type it and have it hacked off to above my eye brows probably. 🙂

My hairdresser is a sort of family friend and neighbour, lives just across the road. She knows me and my ideas. She persuaded me to leave it a little longer for my son’s wedding. It was OK, and I had it cut that way for some time. This year I had to be prepared any time to travel to London as my dad was not so well, and short hair is always more convient when travelling. I told the hairdresser the last time, short, and short she cut it and I am so happy with it now, that I am keeping it short. I don’t have time for using the hair dryer and my hair is not exactly thick. It is not thin, but it stays better when short.

I don’t see a reply button under your most recent comment to me, so I will answer in this notification screen. I haven’t used a blow dryer in years. They are horrible for the hair. I let it dry naturally. How convenient to have your hairdresser right near you! I imagine that short hair would be far more convenient than traveling. All I ever got was frustrated trying to wash my long hair in hotel showers. Have a great day! 🙂

When you wrote this the fireworks were at their loudest. The cat survived, but was not happy and so I had to comfort her with a tummy tickle now and again.Eventually she left her place under the settee and slept on top of the settee. If only the idiots would realise what such a night means to animals.

Sometimes you sound so much like me, it’s a bit scary. Garry and I can also wear each others’ shoes, though his are slightly bigger … so I have to wear socks with them and he can’t wear socks with mine. We also are almost the same height and his jackets have the same shoulders as mine, but he’s more square. I’m sloped.
I think surviving the week to survive another is a worthy goal.

Mr. Swiss feet are a little bigger than mine, but clogs seem to fit all feet. Either they slip a little or the back of your foot looks more over the edge. I never wear socks, avoid them when I can. I am about 5 cms taller than Mr. Swiss, but then I am taller than most people. I tend to slope, but with my height it is normal. Mr. Swiss has the ability to walk without noise, which can be quite confusing when he is suddenly standing behind you, and you did not hear him coming.

Most people have never heard of it. Some have never heard of Switzerland. It is one of those countries you pass through in a couple of hours to get to another country, and after you have left it you do not realise you have actually been there.

I think Feldbrunnen must be a similar size to my town, Geeveston but we don’t have so many cows. There are quite a few though.

It is a village, we do not even have a shop. It closed many years ago as no-one really used it. The main town is just along the road, connected by our local train and there is more choice of shopping.

They are Swiss cows, and probably the famer gives them a shower daily so that they look good for the tourist photos.

Ha.. I loved watching my landlord’s cattle across the lake when I was in Switzerland for a month. He had a telescope set up for that purpose!!!

I have never seen that happen. A friend of mine has a farm and they have lots of cows. Outside the shed there is a brush fitted on an automatic rolling device. The cows stand beneath it and it gives them a rub on the back of their necks.

I love that! These people sometimes even airlifted hay to their cattle on the mountain on the other side of the lake! Probably when there was lots of snow.
