  1. Oleander has a bad reputation here. It used to be so common that it grows in the medians of the freeways. It is less common now because of a bacterial blight diseases, but it is still out in the freeways. I happen to like it. There was a big white oleander tree at my former garden, over the patio.

      • This dislike severe frosts. They are popular in Mediterranean climates, and are native to northern Africa, and perhaps Italy and Spain. The specimen in your picture looks like it might be the ‘straight species’ which is fragrant in bloom. Mine were not fragrant, but there was a fragrant specimen my colleague’s parents’ home down south.
