This seems to be common alfafa, Medicago sativa, but could be another species. It is both a cover crop and forage.

Alfalfa is common in many regions, and even if it is not common there, it may have escaped from even a minor application that could have happened decades ago and many miles away.

We just planted sage in our new backyard garden. It isn’t blooming yet, but I hope it will bloom soon.

I have sage in my herb bed for flavouring food. I once had a large bush of it in the garden that flowered every year, but eventually died. I do not want mine to flower as the flavour from the leaves is better when it does not.
