I think they are mums but mums and asters are in the family botanical family just different genera

My systen is to call the ones I like asters and the ones I don’t like mums.
The mums used to have a disctinctive smell that has not been a favourite with me, so there could be that clue too.

I know that dahlias are bigger than mums, but not always and that asters are the last to appear in the garden. Otherwise I just hope that I chose the right name.

I planted a ‘Akebono’ (Japanese) flowering cherry outside my mother’s dining room because she thinks it is native to Washington DC where she saw them blooming back in the early 1960s. I don’t argue. If you say those are asters, that is fine with me.
