Mundane Monday Challenge #144: Electric Wheelchair Battery Recharge

Wheelchair 22.01 (2)

This is underneath the arm of the wheelchair in a horizontal position. Usually it is flat and the steering is on the top. You have a special plug attached to the charger. The charger is connected to the electricity and when the control light on the charger turns to green, it is reloaded. I usually leave it for a complete night. At night our electricity is half price. When recharged I can travel about 30-40 kilometers depending on how I drive. lower gears use more power, but speeding along in 3rd gear 10 kilometers per hour is a little risky.

List 2 things you have to be happy about?

Jura 21.01 (3)

I am happy to live in a place with such magnificent views in the surroundings. Our village is at the foot of the Jura, which has seven parallel chains of mountains stretching to the Swiss border in the North. There is then a flat plane towards the south and it ends in the Bernese Overland with the big mountains. I am now happy to have an electric wheelchair to be able to take photos. I am a very lucky person.

Have you ever owned a rock, pet rock, or gem that is not jewelry?

Ashtray

I was going to say no, but then I remembered we once had a very small ash tray  from a polished rock. This was many years ago, and I do not think we ever used it as an ash tray. I stopped smoking thirty years ago. However Mr. Swiss to the rescue. We still have it on a shelf as an ornament and here it is. Otherwise I do not collect rocks, just heavy big stones for my rockery in the garden.

Are you a hugger or a non-hugger?

Neither nor. It is a little custom here that if you meet someone from the family or a very good friend you will give them a squeeze out of friendship. Formally we shake hands. I do not hug anyone and everyone, it is not my style. I am one of the cool english.

What inspired you or what did you appreciate this past week?  Feel free to use a quote, a photo, a story, or even a combination.

Being independent again, weather permitting. I am now out and about with my camera. I had to stop my longer walks as they were too exhausting (MS) and 10 minutes became the limit. Now I have my electric wheelchair and weather permitting, I am out in the afternoons. I can now even go a little further. We have ducks, geese, horses and chickens across the road, a castle and a river runs at the bottom of our village for some duck and swan action. What could be better. I feel better. I meet people on the way, we have conversations and when I arrive home I am refreshed.

Daily Prompt: Chicken Talk

Chickens 21.01 (17)

“She’s approaching chicks. Ignore her. She’s got that camera again.”

“No, not again. Every day she appears in the afternoon with the camera and says silly things like “smile” “look in my direction”. I don’t like this. Do you think she is from the poultry association, making decisions over our heads, about our heads.”

“You never know girls. I will keep an eye on the situation until she goes. Wait, this is getting dangerous, she is changing the lens on the camera.”

“Not the big one where she zooms  whilst we are pecking around. I am sure she is counting the feathers, Even a chicken has no privacy these days. Let’s just ignore her and pretend we havn’t seen her.”

“What’s she doing now.”

“She is talking to a human she met. He told her to keep up the good work and asked if she is thinking about writing a book on life in a chicken coup.”

“Perhaps she is, we might even become famous. Although probably more about life in a chicken soup.”

“In that case I will stay up here. She is taking a photo of me. I think I will have to fluff out my feathers.”

“Forget it. Don’t fluff out too much otherwise you will be perched on the farmer’s plate next Sunday. You will become a wishbone memory.  They like they hens with extra fat under the feathers. He might even soak you in a bottle of wine first of all. I wouldn’t want to end my days as a “coq au vin”. I would prefer to meet the fox on a dark evening. At least I would be able to fight to the last, might even be the hero of the chicken coup.”

“What’s a wishbone girls?.”

“Don’t ask. There are some things in the private life of a chicken that it is better not knowing.”

“Oh, I thought I might be missing something important.”

“OK chicks she has gone. She is now taking photos of the geese.”

“The stupid geese, and I bet they are enjoying it.”

“Of course, they are even letting her take a portrait.”

“So come down from your perch, you have had your moment of fame. It time to lay an egg.”
