Retired and Enjoying Every Minute of It
I am Ahmed Abdi, a Wordpress blogger and storyteller who searches for stories that inspire people. I love writing because it’s a reflection of how I perceive the world around me. Lost in a world of endless chaos in my childhood, Unforgettable moments of tragedy and triumphs taught me the art of storytelling where I found myself through letter writing and then turned into stories but then sadly had lost everything I wrote for years. In 2018, I decided to create a Wordpress blog site that would allow me to store and retrieve every piece. Stories from my community, city and people are what make my writing so interesting and inspiring! I’m a tea lover so a cup of tea sometimes makes my blog.

Fuschias can always be relied on to add a splash of colour.

Oh it is. Pat, it was in England I ‘met’ the hugest choice of fuchsias, never knew there could be so many varieties. In my garden in TQ I had ‘shrubs’ large of way over 1.50m…. a never seen again daily joy – and with the mild winters they survived year after year!

That is an advantage of the English climate. They haven’t Frosts to kill them off and the fuschias become bushes. Even the Passion flowers survive

Fuchsias exhibit such variability! It really is what it is labeled as.

I like them, but they do not survive our Swiss winters, so have to be replaced every year and never get a chance to develop into something bigger

They can be grown as houseplants through winter, but it is not as easy as it sounds. I grew many when I was younger, but got bored with them. The flowers are pretty, but the plants are not.

The ones we have in the garden are winter resistant, but the house plant types we get here are not. They are usually something special with large flowers and interesting colours, but I keep my inside garden to a minimum in Winter. A few orchids and kalanchoe are ideal.
