Write about anything you’d like, but make sure that all seven colors of the rainbow — red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet — make an appearance in the post, either through word or image.
Photographers, artists, poets: show us COLORS.
I do not know who this Roy G. Biv character is or was, but I do now that Richard of York Gained Battles in Vain, which is more believable and instilled into my chid brain in school when learning the colours of the rainbow.
Are you sitting comfortably, then I will begin. The photo is not just a photo of a rainbow, there is more to it. I was on my way home from work and driving over the castle grounds just near to where I live. Being treasured by the local community I have a special permit to allow me to drive this road, although all village inhabitants have this permit if they apply for it.
So I was driving along and saw the rainbow and one of my lightening ideas struck. Always having a camera with me, I decided to pull up and take a photo. Stopping on the castle path just next to the stone edged gates and steps is no big deal, any fool can do it. The problem was that I had to change into the reverse gear to be able to park on the side. It was then that I saw a lady accompanied by two children who started waving. Thinking that is was a neighbour I returned her wave. Unfortunately it was a warning wave to tell me to stop. I did not stop and backed into a corner of stone. I was driving the Volvo 960 at the time which is a good solid car. Unfortunately even solid cars are not more solid than stone.
I was quite RED in the face, and the sun was still shining through the rain clouds with its ORANGE face: how to explain to Mr. Swiss that his dark BLUE Volvo had a scratch. If it had been a YELLOW car, it might not have noticed so much. I walked around the car, crossing the GREEN lush wet grass causing some mud to stick to my lovely new VIOLET shoes (it was fashion at the time) , to view the damage from another angle. In the meanwhile the heavens had decided to give another dose of rain; the sky had turned a darkened INDIGO tone, as it to say it was your fault. You should have been studying the road and not the rainbow. However, the sun appeared again and the sky brightened.
I took a glance at the car and found there was more mud than scratch, although it would have to be dealt with. In Switzerland you do not drive around with a large scratch on the bumper, although I was and still am of the firm opinion that that is what are bumpers are for. Undaunted in my quest, I saw that the rainbow was still present and took a few pictures.
It was only a few minutes from home. I parked the car in the underground community garage and took some photos of the small scratch on the car. I decided it would be easier to explain to Mr. Swiss with a photo.
It was the stone corner on the right hand side of the edging to the stairs which did the damage. What a stupid place to make a corner, it was inviting a car collision, especially when rainbow watching.

I have to fly thousands of miles to see a castle, and you live close enough to bump into one? Lucky. Thanks for sharing, it makes me feel better about the scrape on MY husbands car.

LOL – Castle Waldegg is part of our village, just across the road and up on the hill. It was built some time in the 18th century I think and it became the Summer residence of the French Ambassador to Switzerland. It is now mainly used for exhibitions and celebrations.

I’m sorry about the car, but I love the rainbow photo, the castle and the story and how you looped it all together so beautifully ~ dare I say, like a rainbow? ♥

Thanks – it happened someyears ago when I was still a working woman. I have been retired almost five years now and the Volvo no longer exists in our family.

Love your story! I backed my vehicle into a sign post years ago, which left a dent and a scratch. I think the Swiss would be very unhappy with me. I never repaired it. That’s what bumpers are for 🙂

LOL. I backed into a signpost once but had no scratch luckily. The sign post was not so straight afterwards.

Good God ! For how long they will re-run the old prompts? It must be boring for seasoned writers like you. Good you have introduced Tabby and Fluffy to us so that you can write new post for the same old prompt. Time to find out how they both managed with colors.
