Every day in the golden oldie home in the afternoon, in Summer, everyone sits outside enjoying something to drink, perhaps an afternoon dessert, usually ice cream. But it is a silent convival moment usually. No-one has a lot to say. Sometimes my Mr. Swiss will also sit there, but no great conversations. I noticed that with age people no longer discuss so much, there is no merry laughter, There is usually someone who tries some animation, to bring a little conversation into the afternoon.
Yes, growing old is no longer such fun and games. Everyone seems to be living in their own world.
Growing old is not fun and games. It’s hard and confusing. In my aunt’s “home” it was a variety of old age epochs. She had nothing to say because it was beyond her to say anything to strangers at that point. When we were together, alone? She had a lot of conversation for which I am deeply grateful.

One of life’s surprises. I notice that Mr. Swiss no longer talks so much. I am also slowly losing my gift of conversation.
