Lens Artists Challenge #338: Machines

Living in an agricultural part of Switzerland, we are confronted with all sorts of farming machines as well as other types. They can be very intersting, mostly just parked and not being used, so I do not exactly know their use. The third photo shows how how collection is made with the continers for glass and other unnessary items. The first photo seems to be for transporting heavy goods and the second is agriculture and farming. The last photo, I must admit I have no idea, probably a liquid transport.

  1. I’m not a farm boy, but I do recognize the similarity between the last photo and farm equipment I’ve seen around North Dakota. Those disks that are standing upright are folded down to the ground when in use and the liquid in the tank is probably fertilizer or other crop application product. The disks churn the soil and measured amounts of the liquid are deposited in the soil. At least, that’s how the implements in North Dakota work.

    • Growing up in London for the firt 20 years of my life, I had no idea of agricuilture, but since living in Switzerland for the past 55 years I have learned a lot. I live in farming territory and I think we have more cows than people here.
