FOWC Fandango: Pound

Actually a five pound note, from the old british currency. I am a Brit and grew up with this currency. I remember the original one pound notes. At first they were blue, then became green, but they always had the portrait of the Queen on them, although this is a very young queen. The pound note no longer exists, replaced by a coin, but I found this five pound note in my souvenirs, probably no longer accepted as legal currency. As a Brit this is my interpretation of pound.

I notice that even the signature of the Chief Cashier of the Bank of England is on the note, as it always was.

RDP Friday: Evacuate

Lifts can be strange sometimes. Only a few days ago I called my lift as I actually only needed to go one level to the basement to my laundry room. The lift arrived, the door opened and I wanted to enter. However, everything was dark, the automatic light do not operate. Everything was black and dark. Just a few seconds later the light ignited, but such unexpected things make me very uncertain.

I remember some years ago, I was at our local department store. I was in the upper floor and wanted to leave, so called for the lift to the ground floor. The lift arrived, I entered and it began to descend. Suddenly it stopped, blocked between floors. I was not alone in the lift, there were a few customers. We rang the alarm for assistance and someone said they would look into it. However, we were all stuck in the lift for at least 5-10 minutes. Not very long I suppose, but I got quite nervous, and so did others. Actually I was no longer feeling so good and one of the other people even made a remark that that lady (me) was loooking quite pale. I was feeling quite weak being suspended in a lift that was out of action. Luckily the light was still on. A voice called again and said they were working on the solution. Suddenly there was a jolt and the lift was moving again. I was really feeling quite strange and uncertain. I suppose I had symptoms of claustrophobia, and I was really not feeling very well.

I was really glad to reach safety again when the lift doors eventually opened.
