FOWC with Fandango: Farmer

I live in the middle of farmland. Our Kanton in Switzerland is a farming area. The local amimals are mainly cows. I think their population in our Kanton is probably more that humans. We also have goats , chickens and sheep The farmer’s life revolves around his crops and animals. I eat meat, I eat vegetables, although I sometimes have a bit of a twinge for the animals, but for me that is life. I eat to survive and feed my family. I think without the farmers our local life would be just plain boring.

We have a weekly market for our vegetables and a montthly market showing the cattle. Milk is produced in Switzerland from our cows, the country runs on agriculture. Being a small country, we are dependent on the farming products, although also import from the surrounding countries. Almost everyone has an apple tree in their garden, like myself.

I grew up in London, absolutely no agricuilture. We had to travel into the country to see a cow. Now they are on my doorstep. One of my friends is a farmer’s wife. It did not just stop with the animals on the farm. She had a dog, totoises, gunea pigs and rabbits and would look after the chickens. I often visited her and enoyed seeing the animals. So bravo the farming life. It is hard work, but a rewarding work.

RDP Friday: Ship-shape

I borrowed one of my autistic son’s drawings of a ship.

There are all sorts of problems lurking to surprise you as you get older. I am no longer as active as I was, with this stupid idiotic illness I have called MS. However, my condition is not so bad as it could be, luckily a somewhat milder version. I can no longer walk unairded with fear of falling. The wheelchair is not yet part of my body and I hope it stays that way for the next few years. I am still independnt in my movements for my daily chores. I am so glad that I can still cook and that also my computer “talents” still exist. Gardening is no longer so possible in details, but some plants seem to care take of themselves. Those that do not, I avoid.

Weather sometimes plays tricks especially this Summer which has been hot and with less fresh air, but I exist. My computer guy sent news to all users today that we should make a backup for our computers, due to the threat of various storms in the area, so I hope I survive somehow.

Good news for me was that my doctor confirmed I no longer have diabetes. I was really suprised, but after 40 years of tablets it seems to have disappeared. At least one problem less.

So I think I will now ask my son if I can book a cabin on his ship – it can only get better.
