In the older buildings in Switzerland, wood was used and so the rooves were usually supported by various beam contructions. This is from the golden oldie home where Mr. Swiss is. It was built some time in the 15th century, and with various renovations and modernisations, it is still standing. The beams have served their purpose well as roof contructions. The photo is from one of the balconies outdoors. A climbing plant has taken over partly.
