Commonly known as Christmas Cactus, they are already available. Christmas is only a month away. A word of advice. If you happen to have a cat, keep them away from the Christmas cactus. Our Fluffy once ate a flower laying on the floor, Fluffy would eat anything. The result was a vet visit as Fluffy really did not do well with his meal. The vet told us that those flowers are not good for cats.
Gorgeous photograph!

Gorgeous photo! Good to know about it being toxic to cats. We just got a cat (stray kitten) and he promptly decided that the Christmas Cactus was where he would lie most of the time. He didn’t get sick so I guess he didn’t eat any of it. It doesn’t have any flowers though.

My Christmas cactus was a few years old and very big. Our fluffy discovered a flower that had fallen from the cactus and deicded to eat it. He did not swallow it, we managed to take it from him, but he got sick and we took him to the vet and said what happened. The vet said that there is something in those flowers that does not agree with cats. It is OK, but they should not try to eat one.

I’ve not seen a Christmas Cactus in years. Beautiful.

It’s a regular thing here every Christmas.

Mine is already budding — it likes to bloom at the end of November, in time for Thanksgiving.

I had a fantastic plant, really big, but when I had the problem with Fluffy, I got rid of it and no longer want one.

It’s why I haven’t bought a cyclamen. They’re poisonous to dogs though I had them for years and no dog thought of eating it…
