That was a good one. I just like books with a bit of a mystery and was guessing all the way whodunit. It was a bit of a fantasy story, but that is my taste.
I found a smidgen outside at the base of a cupboard door on my porch. I was so glad to find it, as I had no idea what a smidgen is until I found the definition in Internet and now I know. Actually I have my son to thnk for this smidgen. It was last week and he reached in the cupboard in the kitcen and an almost full glass of paprika fell out of the cupboard, smashing when it hit the ground. Luckily the glass was not smashed to smithereens, and was in two large pieces. We quickly cleared it all away and I still had a glass full in the cupboard as substitute. I usually buy things that I have enough.
However, a few days later I noticed where we put the remains in the trash bag, there was a SMIDGEN left on the ground. I took a photo and here it is, preserved for posterity. You never know, this photo might become very important – or not.
I am never pestered, with the exception of unwanted stupid telephone conversations. Just a day ago I got a call from a lady (although lady was too good a description) telling me I had called last June (6 monhs ago) in connection with a crypto finance investment, although it was so unimportant I have forgottn exactly what she was talking about. Anyhow I told her she was talking “bullshit” and hung up the phone. Afterwards I blocked her number. I even contacted our police and they confirmed it was a scam. Of course I had no intention of believing the rubbish, I have a distinct allergy again all sorts of such connections.
I live alone, just with my son, and rarely have contact with others. However, I have a wonderful neighbour and she helps me a lot – a journey to the doctor or just contact with help. Today I was at last able to help her. Her freezer was not working, and it is now New Year Holidays and no-one works. However, the door to my laundry room is never locked and there I have my freezer chest. I told her to deposit her goods in my freezer, the door is always open and no problem. I was so glad I was able to help her. She has a family, with two children, and was so pleased to have a solution to her problem.
About an hour later I had a ring at my door bell. Something rare for me as I do not have many contacts. Her daughter had a plate of still warm pastries for me as a thankyou gift. It was really not necessary for me, I was glad to help, but it was a wonderful surprise and the pastries were so good. I stopped baking myself some time ago, since I now live alone. Such moments are wonderful in my isolation.
The photo is my weekly online shopping. Why do I still bother what to get, what to eat and what to organise. I suppose if I do not do it, no-one else will. Now the Christmas will soon arrive. Sorry, but I hate Christmas and this year for us in Switzerland it will be from Tuesday evening until Thursday evening when the shops are closed. When and how I will get food at that time, I have no idea. I must organise everything before. I am now the planner in the family. Even with my hate of Chriostmas – and new year, we still have to eat, and so we eat something a little better as usual.
Today I went to the store to see if I could pick up a few things already to freeze. My freezer in the apartment is now full, but I still have plenty of room in the deep freezer in the cellar. It is only myself and No. 1 son at home. No. 2 son celebrates with his wife’s family in Germany and Mr. Swiss will not be at home for the Christmas evening. I will be visiting him, but otherwise it will be now too much stress to organise the jouney for an 85 year old to come home on Christmas evening with a taxi and to organise the taxi to bring him back to his home. He will be well looked after in his golen oldie home, with good food.
It is all a case of avoiding stress for me, I can no longer do it, I am also no longer so young. I no longer decorate for Christmas. I have no family in Switzerland and Mr. Swiss only has an older sister and she will be with her children. I just cannot be bothered with the whole show and will be glad when it is over.
I am Ahmed Abdi, a Wordpress blogger and storyteller who searches for stories that inspire people. I love writing because it’s a reflection of how I perceive the world around me. Lost in a world of endless chaos in my childhood, Unforgettable moments of tragedy and triumphs taught me the art of storytelling where I found myself through letter writing and then turned into stories but then sadly had lost everything I wrote for years. In 2018, I decided to create a Wordpress blog site that would allow me to store and retrieve every piece. Stories from my community, city and people are what make my writing so interesting and inspiring! I’m a tea lover so a cup of tea sometimes makes my blog.
