I pass this wild meadow when I visit Mr. Swiss in his led.gold oldie home and noticed something new had arrived. The long stalks with the red seeds on them are known apparently as Dock according to my plant namer, although it seemed a strange name to me. I see them a lot in the fields but never actually knew what they were called.
Having a wasp nest in your back yard next to the window is not fun. I do not know why their queen decided to bear her offspring next to my appartment but suddenly there was a coming a going of insects wearing striped t-shirts. Admittendly they stayed outside and did not enter my premises, but I was unsure. I deicided to do something about it, but was told by the authorities I must call the fire brigade and they would remove the nest. I soon discovered that this would be no trouble, although it would costs 80 Swiss Francs – a franc per wasp probably.
The fire brigade was one guy, dressed in his special anti wasp kit, and sprayed something for a few seconds and then said goodbye. He said the wasps would hover around for a few minutes but then would disappear eventurally and the queen was no longer. What an easy way to earn 80 Swiss francs. However, since that day some time last year I have had no wasp nests. Apparently the remains of the nest are still there, but no danger. I actually wanted to take a photo, but it is hidden in the blinds somewhere.
Our local market always has interesting objects such as these lavender parcels, but not in my interest. I no longer knit or do any handwork, my hands just will not oblige today. I still cook but to survive. Since I now live alone with my son, there is no longer a large family to cook for and my days of baking cakes are now gone, although I do like to delve in the world of spices and various new dishes.
The computer seems to have become my hobby. I had to get a new one at the beginning of the year as my old computer was no longer the best version after ten years. I had a good collegue who works with computers and he organised my new computer and at last have Wkindows 10 on my machine.
It is now perfect for my taste and I have learnt so much more.
Naturally I do not sit on the computer all day, at the most just over an hour. Otherwise my spare relaxing time is spent reading – on my Kindle. It is more comfortable than holding a book in the hand and it has its own built in light.
I am Ahmed Abdi, a Wordpress blogger and storyteller who searches for stories that inspire people. I love writing because it’s a reflection of how I perceive the world around me. Lost in a world of endless chaos in my childhood, Unforgettable moments of tragedy and triumphs taught me the art of storytelling where I found myself through letter writing and then turned into stories but then sadly had lost everything I wrote for years. In 2018, I decided to create a Wordpress blog site that would allow me to store and retrieve every piece. Stories from my community, city and people are what make my writing so interesting and inspiring! I’m a tea lover so a cup of tea sometimes makes my blog.
