FOWC with Fandango: Absurd

Tomorrow is 1st August and we have a holiday in Switzerland. The country is taking the day off, at least most of us. There are probably a few that have to work to maintain that the country till functions. However, a few hundred years ago three guys met around a cask of beer and a fire to keerp themselves warm and decided to make a country. In the meanwhile the three guys expanded to about 26 guys and now we have a few states called Switzerland.

The Swiss will be celebrating, probably with a B-B-que and a few, or many, cans of beer. I will not be celebrating so much; just stay at home with my son. It used to be a firework display in town in the evening, but this year our town has banned the fireworks, probably there is a danger. I am sure the dogs and cats and surrounding wild life will be glad. Although we have had so much rain lately, I cannot imagine it could be dangerous.

On the illutration you can see various flags b elonging to a few Swiss States. I know a few of them, but not all. It all happens tomorrow, but visiting Mr. Swiss in his golden oldie home yesterday I noticed that preparations were already being made, a bar was set up for refreshments and there will be a special meal served for all. I might visit in the afternoon, am not sure. Rain is again on its way so I may have problems getting there on my scooter.

It is not really absurd, although being 50% Brit I will only be celelbrating with the half of my thoughts.

RDP Thursday: Garish

Just take a walk to our monthly market day in town and you will be blinded by the quantityof garishness achieved. The brighter the better. It takes place on the second Monday of the month: mainly a mixture of bright colours and designs to attract the local population. I often wonder who buys it all. Can they really use all this stuff. I imagine a room somewhere in deepest Hong Kong where strange designs are developped by the workers although I am sure it is not handwork, but by some sort of computerised machine and naturally all with sythetic material.. I saw this selection but still am not sure for what these objects can be used. The market takes place on the streets

RDP Wednesday: Faulty

We are having faulty weather at the moment. I remember the days gone by when we would depart for an annual Summar holiday with the family. It was alwalys the last two weeks in July and perhaps a few days at the beginning of August. It was always the best weather of the year. Warm temperatures, going for walks on mountain paths and now and again a storm to help cool down for a few hours. Afterwards returning home tanned brown from the sun. I can now be plesed if my skin changes colour from its permanent pale shade.

Now there is a falut slowly creeping into the system. My. Oldest son took his holiday at the beginning of July in North Italy in a special group for autistic people and he had perfect sunny hot weather. He returned home and the super weather left us. We have not seen the sun since, rain once a day and temperatures below 23°C which is unusual for this time of the year. I am even wearing long trousers in the afternoon and warmer underwear. This is not normal for this time of the year. I am usually living in short trousers and sleeveless t-shirts at this time of the year. I like a breeze to cool down, but not a cold wind as it is at the moment.

Everything seems to be unpside down. Perhaps we will have a heatwave at Christmas to compensate.

RDP Monday: DeLuxe

Will this become Deluxe or is it already Deluxe. Since more than a year building began. In this country you have to get building permission for everything and so it will be made public in the local offices and everyone knows what will appear. I am not giving away secrets, we all know that an indoor swimming pool is being built with an accompanying appartment.

I have a grandstand view from my garden of its development, you can see one of my buddleia flowers on the left hand side that got into the photo. So I wartched the swimming pool develop, although it was done quite well and most was hidden from view. However, if you take a walk in the right place you could see the internal construction of the pool. It is interesting, but our village is well known for attracting a basic millionaire population, due to the low income tax rates, althoughI do not find our income tax very low. We moved in more than 30 years ago and all this deluxe was then not even on the drawing board.

Howver in the meanwhile one of our industrial millionaires has built his villa and now is continuing to complete his swimming pool with all the luxury. As said I see the development from my garden although with time it becomes quite boring. The appartment building is now being completed although every time I think it will now be finished, they begin again. The scaffolding around the building was once removed, but it has now been added again. They began to develop the roof and did I see solar panels being placed on the roof? Is there more luxury you can have? I know I am nosy, but I just cannot resist knowing what more will arrive in this modern palatial construction. I wonder who will live there afterwards. If the building continues, his teenage chilren will soon be old enough to use it for their own future families.

I think all my neighbours are becoming curious about the development of this Deluxe construction.

FOWC with Fandango: Squall

It seems to be the squalling season at the moment. Warm temperatures quickly changing when a wind gust arrives and the clouds begin to gather. Actually no problem. it makes life interesting. All that hot weather can get a little boring. I quite enjoy it during the night, no longer a boring silence: obects falling, making noise, and in the morning curiosity no longer when we see what has happened during the night. I like to hear the rain falling. Probably because I am tucked up in my comfortable bed and do not have to brave the storm.

RDP Sunday: Rip-off

The sky was not ripping me off, just showing would might happen or perhaps not.

At the moment someone unknown is trying to rip me off regularly every morning around 11.30 a.m. That is when my iphone rings. I used to take the call and say my name as usual, However, I no longer do this. If I do not recognise the number that is calling then a simple “Hello” is sufficient. Before the idiot on the phone begins with his “sh*t I hang up. The number usually has a Swiss phone prefix, 0041, but increasingly the number has 0044 as a prefix, the english dialing code, but I no longer fall for this trick as it seems the call centers with their corrupt advertising schemes are now using the 0044 prefix. If I take the call they speak German, and German german, no Swiss German – all a scam. They want to capture me for one of their advertising scams, but this lady is not interested. Basically anything that costs money is something I refuse and I really do not have time or patience for such crooks. This is an increasing form of scam. I sometimes wonder who these guys are and do they really have to earn their money with such ridiculous idiocy. This is more than a rip-off, although I have no suitable insulting word in my vocabulary that would be permitted here.
