Looking for something as my flower of the day, I discovered flowers are few and rare at the moment. However I spotted this tree beginning to flower next to my garden. I think it is a forsythia as they are one of the first to show their flowers, although not fully open yet.
The Swiss are professionals in voting, we do it at least 3-4 times a year, but unanimous has its own meaning. Our last big vote was to get us golden oldies 13 pensions per year, instead of 12 monthly pensions. The results were regularly being broadcasted on the radio during the day, and there was a majority for the 13 months. However, that is not decisive in Switzerland. It is not how many people but how many Kantons (States, counties) that are the decisive fact.
In this case for our extra pension, it was also the majority of Kantons that said yes, and so we got our extra money. As you can see on the photo, if we have something to vote about, it is not lacking in publicity.
There was once a vote to let the cows keep their horns, instead of removing them when they were calves, as it was said to be dangerous if they kept them. We all went voting, I found the cows should grow up with their horns, but the majority decided to leave it as it was and remove them.
Yes Switzerland is a funny country as a direct democracy. I wonder if Biden or Trump would have a chance here.
You lucky people, having so many different lizards in yoiur back yard. I had to go to the nearbye town of Biel/Bienne to a reptile exhibition a couple of years ago to see some reptiles and this is one of the examples.
And here is another one. We do have lizards, but very small and we do not see them very often.
Although this toad once found its way through the bedroom window once. It had been a particularly damp time. Of course it was not a big as the picture makes you think, but too big for me in the apartment so I managed to make him hop out again.
I am Ahmed Abdi, a Wordpress blogger and storyteller who searches for stories that inspire people. I love writing because it’s a reflection of how I perceive the world around me. Lost in a world of endless chaos in my childhood, Unforgettable moments of tragedy and triumphs taught me the art of storytelling where I found myself through letter writing and then turned into stories but then sadly had lost everything I wrote for years. In 2018, I decided to create a Wordpress blog site that would allow me to store and retrieve every piece. Stories from my community, city and people are what make my writing so interesting and inspiring! I’m a tea lover so a cup of tea sometimes makes my blog.
