The roses have returned. This is my climbing rose, full of buds. Unfortunately two stalks broke, full of buds, but I managed to cut them and put them in water, where they are still alive. This year seems to be a super year and I have flowers everywhere in my garden.
We seem to be having an exceptional year for things growing. My apple tree had flowers everywhere and otherwise the garden is looking good. We had a very mild winter which is probably the reason.
That is interesting because more pronounced chill during winter should enhance bloom for spring. Of course, a mild winter there is likely more than sufficient, and a more typical winter might be cold enough to actually compromise bloom. I do not know how much chill is too much because I have never experienced it.
I’m still waiting for the yellow heirloom climbing rose outside my bathroom window to bloom. It is a joyful burst of color and scent I anticipate and look for annually.
I am Ahmed Abdi, a Wordpress blogger and storyteller who searches for stories that inspire people. I love writing because it’s a reflection of how I perceive the world around me. Lost in a world of endless chaos in my childhood, Unforgettable moments of tragedy and triumphs taught me the art of storytelling where I found myself through letter writing and then turned into stories but then sadly had lost everything I wrote for years. In 2018, I decided to create a Wordpress blog site that would allow me to store and retrieve every piece. Stories from my community, city and people are what make my writing so interesting and inspiring! I’m a tea lover so a cup of tea sometimes makes my blog.

My yellow rose has sent out one blossom so far, in the warmest possible spot.

My garden is not doing great but I am now wondering if that’s related to my attitude which isn’t doing great, either! 🤣

Our chills usually mean frozen. It got colder this year, but not much snow and no ice.

I wonder how much amazing it would be if all of the buds pop at once

I agree this year has been wonderful for most things. I’m not getting a lot of iris to bloom though.
