FOWC with Fandango: Participate

In the good old days, when we were still young and agile, even Mr. Swiss and my No. 2 son would come shopping with me. At least they put the bags in the trolly whilst someone looked on to make sure that it was done properly. I am not in the photo, but I was recovering from buying everything, picking it from the shelves and putting it in the bags. Yes participation is the main thing.

RDP Thursday: Deluge

Oh yes. We have had it all. It was about 12 years ago that we had torrents of rain and it was then discovered that our building had a few wrong constructions. The result being that the water arrived in our hobby room in the cellar and everything got wet. Eventually we got things sorted and the insurance paid up, although not for everything.

The water also got into our cellar and it was no fun. After the deluge we had the rooms repaired and since there has been no more problems. Flooding is not nice.

Eventually we had this monster pumping away for about a month to make sure the water was gone. It was not what you see, but what seeps into the ground below. I always feel sorry for people that have floods as I know the destruction what can happen.

In the meanwhile our cellar is back to its normal condition.

FOWC with Fandango: Cottage

This little cottage is in our village, just across the road. It is the last building before the local castle at the end of the long path on the right. I walk past when visiting the castle or the top half of the village. I have noticed over the years the change in owners. For many years an elderly lady lived there on her own. Then one day she probably got tool old to live there and a married couple moved in.

RDP Wednesday: Dust

Having black leather furniture is not such a good solution for dust, it works as a magnet. Having nothing better to do in the morning, I do some clearning in the apartment and I soon noticed that black leather is a magnet for dust. I now have my solution, with a damp cloth I just go across the surface and the dust disappears. I always now have a dust free apartment – until the next morning when I start all over again, but just a case of 5 minutes. I suppose the life of a housewife.

Nasturtiums

Almost unbelievable but true. Some time in Summer I threw a few nasturtium seeds in one of my flower beds and actually forgot them. However, some time in September I noticed some of their leaves. Now we have November and they are still producing their leaves. I do not think there will be any flowers. They will probly be victims to frost and snow, but I leave them to do their own thing. The leaves seem to be staying small.

FOWC with Fandango: White

A friend of mine married a farmer, and naturally is herself now a farmer. With time she had six children and the son has now taken over the farm. In the meanwhile many animals have come and gone, but she always managed to develop a few rarities, mainly for the kids. I have not seen her for some time, but I used to visit now and again and she was breeding white bellied hedgehogs at the time. Even their spikes were white. This is one of the babies.

RDP Tuesday: Denouement

I love reading and there is always a book/actuially Kindle in my hand in the evening. I love criminal stories and have just finished this one, written by a Swiss author. It was all in German and even a little Swiss German now and again, although the dialect was more Bundner German than our local Solothurn/Bern German, but no problem. I understood it all. Since the last 50 years Swiss German is my daily language, so no problem. I enjoyed this book, and even ventured to write a critic on my Goodreads page, although my written German is not perfect. The book had a good end and the police officer, Mr. Caminada, was good with help from one of his partners, I also read english of course, but I do not often find a good Swiss book. This took place in 1947 in Switzerland, after the war and the local situation was very well captured. It was a time when you listened to radio for the latest news. In this case Beromunster, which still exists as a radio sender.
