A house in our town opposite the river. It was old and falling apart, and then someone had the idea of restoring it to its old charm. The colourful blinds are in the Solothurn colours of our Kanton, red and white.
I am always taking photos of interesting houses in our local town of Solothurn
The so-called “Vorstadt” of Solothurn. The house on the corner was built some time around 1930 and has now been modernised. Why this house – I lived there for almost 20 years with my husband and 4 kids on the first floor. It is divided into appartments: very thick walls, solidly built and large rooms – just ideal for a family. but not very modern at the time. Although it looks like a quiet place, it was not always like that. When we lived there the road was packed with traffic. They have now built a motorway to relieve it of the through traffic, but the railway still passes through in the center.
You have some very cool designs and architecture for this week. Thanks for sharing your photos.

For me every day places, but I have been lucky enough to visit different countries and towns and with the eye of the camera you seem to see a lot more.

We live in a village, but the town is just along the road, although not ver large. Solothurn is very old, founded by the Romans so there is plenty to photograph.

Your town is adorable. I understand about “through traffic.” that’s a problem in many small towns when there’s no other way to get from point A to B. We are off the main drag, so even at the busiest times of day, there’s limited traffic.
The two top houses are lovely. Love the striped awnings and the little Belle Epoque triplex.

Today traffic is not allowed in the central part of the town, unless delivering stuff to shops or people to hotels. It is all on the periphery. It is a compact town, and there are alls sorts of laws to preserve its style, The main roads were very busy, but since they eventually completed the remainders of the motorway, the trasit traffic now has the possiblity to avoid town. In our village we have only small roads, the main road being on the edge, although it divides our village into two halves. At the moment we are inconvenienced with the road rebuilding, but it should be finished in a month or so.
There are all sorts of interesting houses in the town of Solothurn. I should visit again with the camera. I only go to town for a doctor or hairdresser visit.
