Not that my dad was a great writer, although now and again it was necessary to write a business letter, nothing official, just acknowledgements. However, dad had his own style of writing and I remember it well.
He would begin “Dear Sirs, or Dear Mr. ….” and that it would go further, “Regarding the …” etc. because it was always the beginning to write “regarding”. He worked in a factory his whole life, and not in an office His education was elementary and nothing special, but as the man of the house he sometimes had to write a few official words.
And so he would continue, the word “regarding” appearing in every sentence that he wrote. Just a memory of the days when dad was the head of the family, good memories. Dad you were good – not a writer, but when necessary he could do it.

My father still performs the duty of writing letters to government officials, when there’s a need.
Sadly, I haven’t inherited this skill from him.

Luckily today we can do it all on the computer and no longer write official letters.

This takes me back, Pat, to when almost every letter started with the subject line “Re:” and then the letter went on. ‘Regarding’ was a most necessary word in letter writing.

I remember that as well from my office days. Today so much had changed by using computer etc.
