Poinsettia

How did I do it. I have no idea, but it happened. This Christmas flower was a gift some time mid November. My neighbour always gives me one at that time of the year, as she knows it will soon be my birthday in December. I love this flower, but usually it begins to loose leaves and colour during January.

This year I seem to have been doing something right. I have lost no leaves and it has even produced its little buds again. I discovered that too much water is not good and I give it a dose once a week and not too much. This seems to be working. Even the colour still appears on new leaves, although if I notice the colour begins to disappear I will put it in a closed space during the night which is apparently the thing to do. I am so happy with this Poinsettia. The first success after all these years.

FOTD 21st December 2024: Poinsettia

Every year one of my neighbours gives me a poinsettia at Christmas. Actually it is my birthday on 6th December, which is St. Nicholas day, and it is my birthday present. However being so near to Christmas it is for my a combined gift and I treasure it always. This year I want to try to keep it until next year by putiing in a dark room during the night to see if it will get the red leaves again.
