Daily Writing Prompt: How do you use social media.

It is just there, has a daily existence in my life. The computer sits on the desk in the living room, I have an iPad, an iPhone, it is ever present. I am a Facebook member (unfortunately). If life gets boring, then have a look in facebook to see the stupid stories about cats, dogs, cooking recipes and silly stupid accidents that people have. If you cannot sleep at night, have look on you iPhone, you are bound to find something to watch. Perhaps you might fall asleep with the phone in you hand (no, not really, but it could happen). I must admit I am a victim of social media. I write my blog(s) daily (but never in Facebook) I have a look now and again to see if I get a comment. The boring life of a golden oldie I suppose. And at the moment I am writing for my daily writing prompt.

And of course, now and again I take a photo on my iPhone to illustrate my writing. During the afternoon I have nothing better to do than write my ideas. Of course I like reading, but on my Kindle during the evening. It is easier to read, light weight and nicely illuminated. Yes I am a fool for social media. When my phone makes a “ping” noise it means someone wants to talk to me, not really talk, but there is a message and this can be a 24hour occurrence, althouigh I do sleep during the night.

I do actually talk to real people, not that you think I am addicted to social media. I actually wanted to leave Facebook and I really tried, but I could not find out how to do it. So I am still there, although rarely pass a comment, although – yes, my old school in England has a site for us one-time school girls, and it is interesting to see what they are now doing today. My class mates are now also 79-80 years old and many of us are there. You are never alone with an i-Phone I suppose.

  1. When FB got started, I was one of the first 10-20k to join. I was invited by a SF online friend. After 10 days I decided THEN that this wasn’t for me and I stepped away. I can’t really see what hinders you to unfollow…. but I also can’t help you since I’m not a member of said media. Ask your son; he’ll tell you – it’s easy to do. _All the best, Kiki

    • I tried a few times, but seem to go round in circles. On the other hand, no harm done, I can ignore it when I want to, but I must admit I am amused by the people that write supid things. I also seem to have colleagues that have to write every details of their private lives.
