RDP Wednesday: Mingle

Living near one of the oldest towns in Switzerland, we always have crowds of sighseers, often on guided tours to our old cathedral or otherwise historic places. You hear all languages and see all nationalities. They are usually carrying their rucksack and may have a map in their hands, the tourist uniform. It seems to be uniform, wih jacket tied around their waist.

Now and again I might have a conversation with some, expecially if they might be Brits, being one myself.

I remember a few months ago hearing Russian spoken in our local supermarket- I took the opportunity to try out my elementary knowledge of Russian and actually had a small conversation with them. They were from the Ukraine, refugees which had found their way to Switzerland and it was interesting talking to them. I think they were also surprised that someone actually spoke their language. Mingling is sometimes quite good.
