FOWC with Fandango: Pit

The bear is the symbol of rhe town of Bern, the capital of Switzerland, and so we always had a bear pit in Bern. It was quite interesting to see the bears and if visiting Bern I would often take a walk to the pit. This was a few years ago. It was deided that the bears could have more space and so the pit was closed and a new bear park was built on the banks of the River Aare. Unfortunately I have not visited them in their new bear friendly surroundings.

The old bear pit has now been converted to a brewery for the local beer.

RDP Friday: Glacier

Actually glaciers are in the sea which we do not have in Switzerland. However, we have our alps which can be seen almost everywhere in Switzerland. The photo shows the view from my village and I even managed to name them. From where I live we would travel about 1-2 hours on the motorway towards South and arrive in the Bernese Overland, where we spent many Summer holidays. Winter would be great, with all the ice and snow, but I am not a fan of wading in it, so we preferred to rent a chalet in Summer, usually in the Bernese Overland near the Eiger, Jungfrau and Mönch.

Here is a closer view of the three giants with some clouds. They have a permanent ice cover, although the glaciers are shrinking slowly, but they will not be disappearing in my lifetime.
