When I met Mr. Swiss I soon discovered that he was a bookworm, like myself. There was a small problem when we got together. We had to somehow combine our books to fit in the living room. With time we established our living space and a new bookcase was organised. I found that many of my books also exsited in Mr. Swiss selection although his in the German version and mine in the original English.
We still have our books, but in the meanwhile luckily the Kindle was invented, otherwise we would have books everywhere and no-where to live. Today I live alone, Mr. Swiss being in his golden oldie home, but I just love books and always keep an eye on new developents in the world of literature.
In the meanwhile, I read German just as well as english, and according to the original language I read the book in that language. The main problem today is keeping the books dust free, meaning I have to dust them over during the week.
Too many books. What a delightful dilemma! Our house overflows with books EVERYWHERE. Husband prefers his Kindle – and I love mine too – but there’s just something tangible and real and comforting about holding a book in one’s hands!!

I had to dispose of some of our books, there were just too many. I can no longer hold books so much in my hand due to my mobility problems with MS, I drop them too much, but the kindle solves the problem.

With my failing eyesight I have given away hundreds if not over a thousand books – and I’m still bringing dozens and dozens of brand new, never opened DVDs to our local ‘Brocki’. I MUST clear my beloved books away or I’d get too miserable, knowing that I won’t be able to re-read any of them or even read them for the first time…

Thank you, that is my reminder to not buy many more books and first clear my TBR shelves. Yes, shelves, there is more than one!

Whave a guy in Switzerland, and he collects unwanted books I discovered hime over Facebook and he came with his van and took all the unwanted books away. He also collects videos, which I will also have to dispose of one day. He was very efficient, very polite and absolutely no problem. I think he actually makes a business with them. In any case he is gratis, does not charge anything and seemed quite happy to take my excess books.

I did that when HH lived in Bern. We brought dozens of English books and although he didn’t pay for them, any book he sold was only 2.00! Great exchange and always friendly.

I think this guy was somewhere in Baselland, but I remember he was a Turk.

I think books have secret sex lives and when we’re not looking, new books appear on our shelves.

That’s why on the discworld some books need to be chained up and bound!
