There are so many various animals at the golden oldie home, but no babies. I asked once if it would be a good idea to perhaps have a rooster to encourage the chickens to establish a family. Apparently there was once a rooster, but he had to go. Of course he was in an ideal situation, but was not very happy to share his tribe with humans and got quite vicious when he attacked one. They then decided he would have to go as it was getting just a little too dangerous.

Chickens can be very mean. My grandma had them when we were kids and they would attack us when we came to visit.

chickens are monsters. When I was a little girl, my aunt’s chickens pecked my feet to ribbons. From that I learned 1) don’t go into the coop barefoot, 2) close the gate to the coop when you run away crying or you’ll end up chasing chickens all over the pasture.

My first real contact with chickens was when we moved to our village 30 years ago. I never had a problem with them, but basically only take photos. We have many farms here with hundreds of chickens and basically they just lay eggs and take walks in their area now and again. It is the roosters where we have to be careful.
