Well do not laugh, but this music really says something to me. It is a typical example of Swiss Alp Horn music but this particular piece, “The Moosrruf” – call of the moss, has a little story to it.
Many years ago, when Mr. Swiss was still young he was the member of a dance band, It was not really his type of music, but it was a way to earn some extra money if you had an engagement on a Saturday evening. He once even played with the band in Gstaad, at the famouus Palace Hotel, which really brought some useful cash.
We were once on an excursion in the Bernese Overland, a works outing, and we visited a guy in his studio where he actually made Alp Horns, those very long instruments carved out of wood with the hollow sound and there was some sheet music there for the alp horn written by a guy “Hans-Jürg Sommer”. I said to Mr. Swiss that was the guy who played in the dance band years ago. Mr. Swiss found yes, that was his name. Some time later we discovered that it was him, he had made his way into Alpine music and was even a guitar teacher at our local high school. After knowing this I saw him a few times outside the school, told Mr. Swiss, and we had a few words with him. Obviously he was now older, as my husband, but one of his music pieces for the Alp Horn made quite an impression on the Alp Horn music world. He had even begun to play the Alp Horn himself, and appeared a couple of times on the television.
His big hit was a music piece called The Moosruf and not many such music pieces get into the hit prarade of folksmusic, so here it is.
He himself is not playing, but another professional player, but it is his music piece and I find it a good piece to show the peace of the Swiss countryside.
I love it!
