Daily Prompt: Unexpected Guests – again

You walk into your home to find a couple you don’t know sitting in your living room, eating a slice of cake. Tell us what happens next.

“Don’t tell me, you are the WordPress delegation helping yourselves to my special biscuits. You are early, it is not even two years since I wrote all about your last visit. Take your fingers off my biscuits and leave, I have better things to do.”

“But we just wanted to look in to see how you are satisfied with our daily prompts.”

“Daily prompts? They are becoming regular annual prompts. How long do you want to continue with this repeated stuff. I think I will put the remaining biscuits away in a cupboard for the next time you come.”

“But they will be stale.”

“Exactly, and now disappear I have better things to do with my time than feed two refugees from WordPress that take over my biscuits and living room without being invited.”

So now that interruption is out of the way I can carry on with my daily life, like writing a daily prompt, although I am now expecting another visitor. Mr. Computerman will be arriving with my new computer all fixed up and ready to go: how exciting. We have been busy preparing a nice comfortable place on the shelf next to my old Acer, so that the new Acer will not feel so lonely. It must be a shock to be unpacked from a box and carried to a place that you do not know.

In the meanwhile everything has been cleaned. Unfortunately there was a small accident last week and I emptied a glass of cranberry sauce all over the book case where I keep my computers. Luckily no computers were harmed  during the accident. It seems that not all everything was cleaned and there were still some sticky remains from the accident. These things happen if you are a golden oldie, shaking hands etc. but now everything is ready to go.

Our computer centre is now ready and waiting, although I discovered that one of our signals from the internal network was showing a weak signal. The main signal was working, but a second signal is helpful if I work on my computer in my special AngloSwiss computer action office. When Mr. Computerman arrives he will also deal with this small problem and then I will be ready to go on the start line.

If I go missing for the next couple of days it is because I am still busy with organising my new computer and probably uttering a few profanities over things that will not work as I want them to work, but being a cyber golden oldie, this will be no problem.

Many may think why does she need two computers, she has only one pair of hands. That is a signal for modern life. At the beginning there was a Commodore, then there was an Amiga and afterwards Windows arrived. Windows are still here and after cleaning 7 sets of windows I am now ready for 10th set. I have an Apple computer for my writings, but decided that I would need a computer for my photographs. I really do not know how this is going to work, but at the moment I have everything under control. Just a minute I hear a knock at the door.

“What do you want again?”

*We thought you might have time for us now, WordPress said not to come back yet. They want some photos of your living room and perhaps a group photo with yourself and my friend and I eating biscuits. What are you doing with that rifle?”

“Go, and do not come back next year or the year after. Oh, how I hate repeat prompts.”

Daily Prompt: Unexpected Guests – Again

Daily Prompt: Unexpected Guests and unexpected WordPress Problems

You walk into your home to find a couple you don’t know sitting in your living room, eating a slice of cake. Tell us what happens next.

Sour strings

Felines who are these two strange people sitting in the living room eating a plate of sour strings?”

“Mrs. Human we just served them what we had. They did not want vitamin enriched feline pellet food, but we found something that looked like spaghetti.”

“They are sour strings I was given as an introductory offer in the supermarket. And now to the unknown visitors. To what do I owe the honour. I have no debts, did not commit a robbery or murder and have a clean vest, so what are you doing in my living room eating a plate of sour strings.?”

“May we introduce ourselves first of all. I am King Moriaty, responsible for the smooth running of the WordPress blogging site, of which you are a member, and this is my assistant, Morticia Dramaqueen. We believe now and again you have problems and we decided to pay a personal visit to iron things out.”

I noticed that Morticia Dramaqueen was chewing on a sour string which seemed to transform her face into something resembling a lemon drop and giving quite a sour expression, or perhaps she always had a sour expression.

“Felines fetch the cake I baked this morning. I really cannot give my treasured guests sour strings, after all they are from WordPress to solve my problems.”

“Yes, in connection with these so-called problems Mrs. Angloswiss” King Moriaty spoke “I am sure it is just a matter of your approach. As you know we had an old-fashioned pingback list which has now been substituted by our super grid system. You know our grid system? All the various contributions have their own little box, just like a building brick, with its own little title and the name of the author. So much more civilised than the list.”

“But Mr. King Moriaty, this is my problem. It does not work all the time, just now and again. It was so much more customer friendly before the new great improved system that no-one really understands. I was given an URL to connect to the Reader to find the information I needed to link up to my colleague’s blogs, which is very inconvenient and takes time to find what I need.”

“As I said Mrs. Angloswiss, I and my assistant are doing our best to improve the quality of our blogging system. Perhaps it is just a matter of adapting to our high tech system, but with time I am sure you will understand the advanced technology we are using.”

“But what about all the other bloggers that are having the same problems?”

“These are not problems Mrs. Angloswiss, just a misunderstanding.”

“OK, so when can I expect the system to function as it used to, with efficiency and simplicity.”

“It is functioning now in this way, just a matter of time to clear up a few little details. In the meanwhile……

“Here is the cake Mrs. Angloswiss” and Tabby and Nera appeared pushing two plates of freshly baked cake with their noses.”

“Tabby, Nera, you know what. Return the cake to the kitchen. Both Mr. King Moriaty and Morticia Dramaqueen prefer to stay with their sour strings, it appeals more to their taste. Oh are you leaving, what a shame, just as we were getting down to sorting the current WordPress Daily Prompt problems.”

They seemed to be in a hurry to leave, but I am sure things will be back to normal tomorrow on the Daily Prompt, or the day after, or perhaps next week.

Daily Prompt: Unexpected guests and unexpected reaction from WordPress

This is the second day and there is still no grid for today’s prompt. I have again complained, I am just getting palmed off with shoddy excuses and nothing is being done. Please excuse me if I am not visiting your posts, but I am not getting the URL to do so. WordPress just give me a link to the reader, but that is not good enough. I might write today or not, according to if I have the time to find the information I need.

And here is the link again to my complaint. It now stretches over two pages with backward and forward comments and up to now no concrete help. I know how a computer works, I know how WordPress works, I have been here more than six years. all I want is to be able to do my daily prompt with no problem.
