Something I usually remove from my garden if I find one growing. They can get really quite large and almost lethal to remove. I must admit the flowers are very pretty, but they tend to spread where they are not really wanted. Luckily this one was growing in a meadow.
FOTD 26.097.2020: Thistle
This is what happens after the flower. It wil spread its seeds and we will all get thistles growing in the garden, a very prickly invader.
FOTD 23rd February 2019: Thistle
Usually unwanted because of its nasty thorns, but they also have their beauty and is the national flower of Scotland.
FOTD 4th February 2019: Thistle
This one was growing wild in my garden. I must admit after taking the photo it no longer existed. I once let a thistle plant grow in my garden, but when it began to go into competition with my apple tree, I removed it after a lengthy battle with its roots and wearing gloves for protection.
