Weissenstein 23.08 (97)

A few meaningful things happened this year. The main meaningful thing was when the builders arrived in April and stayed until October. We were encased in scaffolding and being on the ground floor we had the grime, dust and dirt all being drawn by the law of gravity to our level.

However not everything was surrounded by the noise from building machines, and now and again we escaped to something quieter. I was especially happy to be able to visit our local mountain Weissenstein. It had been many years bringing up the kids, working and doing the housewife chores. We managed to escape for an afternoon and took the newly built cable car to the top of the mountain. It used to be a chair lift, but it had grown old in the years that it existed and spare parts for repairs could no longer be found.

And so Mr. Swiss and I mounted a cable car for the journey to the top. The photo shows only the first half of the journey. Half way you enter another station and you embark on the finishing stage. I was taking photos all the way of course. We said we would go again in 2018. Here is a view from the top across the Bernese middle land towards South.
