Will I be able to preserve this wonderful Poinsettia this year. I have always had bad luck and after 2-3 months they lose their leaves, collapse and go to the happy hunting grounds of the pointsettia. However, I was given this one at the beginning of December and it is still surviving. Apparenly I was perhaps feeding them too much water in the past. Now it only gets its water once a week and not too much and it seems to be working.
When it loses its red leaves I intend to put it in a closed space during the night from 6.00 p.m. until morning at 8.00 a..m. This encourages it to produce new red leaves apparently. At the moment it is surviving and has lost only 2 green leaves, so there is hope.
The yellow flowers are from a Kalenchoe that I have had since a year. Here also, only once a week water, and the rest seems to work. This is the third time it has flowered since I have had it.
