Retired and Enjoying Every Minute of It
I am Ahmed Abdi, a Wordpress blogger and storyteller who searches for stories that inspire people. I love writing because itβs a reflection of how I perceive the world around me. Lost in a world of endless chaos in my childhood, Unforgettable moments of tragedy and triumphs taught me the art of storytelling where I found myself through letter writing and then turned into stories but then sadly had lost everything I wrote for years. In 2018, I decided to create a Wordpress blog site that would allow me to store and retrieve every piece. Stories from my community, city and people are what make my writing so interesting and inspiring! Iβm a tea lover so a cup of tea sometimes makes my blog.

Ah, more prairie flowers, like Echinacea, . . . oh, I said that already.

I must tell the Swiss horticultural society that we have prairies in Switzerland. We do have enough cows, but not enough for Rawhide.

Rawhide? Do you mean the old television show with Mr. Eastwood? He was my neighbor where I lived in town, but that was certainly not on a prairie.

I grew up with Rowdy Yates and Gil Favor, Clint Eastwood was your neighbour? I am impressed. Growing up in a working class area in London, my only famous neighbours were the gangsters, the Kray brothers. My prairies were the remains of the bombed houses from the second world war

I do not remember the show, but I heard about it. I do remember crossing the Chisholm Trail on Route 66 west of Oklahoma City in 2012. The show was not actually filmed on the Chisholm Trail though. It was mostly filmed in Southern California. Mr. Eastwood did not live in my neighborhood, but owned investment property across the street. I have not seen him since prior to 2006.

I got curioius, not knowing very much about the Chisolm trail so had a look on the computer and have now learnt more. It was very interesting. I knew they were driving a herd of cattle and now I know from where to where (Texas to Abilene in Kansas). So interesting. The only connection I have with the States is my two great uncles that emigrated to settle in Kansas City. My grandmother always received letters from her brothers and one of their sons once visited her in London. He saw me and found that I was a “cute” baby. π
