
And another histroric building disappears behind the scaffolding. I ask how these buildings existed for 5-600 yers and now suddenly they have to be reinforced and repaired. Is this a product of our air pollution? I suppose in the middle ages they had more pollution with the canalisation, the air was pure.

My historian friend says that back in the Middle Ages the air quality had to have been terrible with woodsmoke fires everywhere. Maybe he’s right. Maybe it’s just time… And motors?

It used to be traffic probably but now our town is traffic free

Good point. Maybe it is pollution that has hastened the ageing process. Still at least in your town they restore the old buildings not flatten them and put up ugly steel and concrete monstrosities.

Most of our buildings are under protection and are not allowed to be demolished.
