
At last I have my tea egg and can drink normal tea from the leaves. No more tea bags for me, but this was an ordeal. Our local stores had no tea leaves which was the first obstacle to overcome. I just found that tea from a bag, which might even have residue from plastic from the machines, is not ideal. And then the local supermarket decided to sell tea leaves, an import from Britain. I was so happy, although not my favourite sort. It is Ceylon tea, the cheapest variety.My favourite is English breakfast, but I decided that Ceylon is not the worst, so I got a packet – bought on line. But where was my tea egg? I drink my tea without sugar or milk, justt a plain cup with my breakfast. Being diabetic I have got used to excluding sugar where I can, and I have a problem with milk. My one and only tea egg was missing and so I discovered a special offer online – three tea eggs for 1 Swiss Franc 50, very cheap. The postage was 14 Swiss France as they were being sent from ???? Shanghai of all places. I had no choice and ordered. After a couple of weeks my little parcel arrived from China and now I am all set.
What a wonderful cup of tea I have now in the morning. Just half a tea egg with tea leaves and boiling water. You might ask why not coffee. Another digestive problem, Coffee does not agree with my digestive system and there is nothing better than a cuppa in the morning to set you up for the day. Yes, a miracle has happened, just plain wonderment.

This is nice. Being myself a citizen of a country which has spent $28.19 million on tea exports in February 2023, I say your investment would definitely provide you with some much needed relaxation 🙂

I assume you are from India, a very nice tea sort. In case you happen to have Singalese roots, i did not want to annoy anyone. Ceylon tea is naturally also OK, but I prefer other sorts.

I’m from Pakistan actually. Ceylon tea is also available here but not with the masses. Kenyan tea is their favorite.

I’m totally flabbergasted that Solothurn shops don’t have either lose tea or tea eggs. Even discounters here have lose tea (not the best but lose tea). I found that – being a tea-with-milk drinker – am not discerning enough to really appreciate the expensive teas from one of the two local tea speciality shops – I am quite happy with the medium priced lose teas available at the supermarket. I prefer Darjeeling.

The only place where you could buy loose tea is in a garden Centre outside of town, but it is expensive and too far away for me. In larger towns such as Zuerich or Bern you can buy it in the stores, but Solothurn is not important enough.. I would also be happy with Darjeeling.

I’ve just checked up on Solothurn – I’m amazed how small it is considering that is known in Germany. I thought it would be at least 40-50,000 inhabitants.

It’s a small market town, but had its own local government and Kanton. I live in the village of Feldbrunnen next to the town: population 1,000 and almost as many cows.

I’ve been a tea drinker for as long as I can remember, black also. Not much a coffee drinker, As the saying goes – ” I like a little coffee with my cream and sugar.”, but that’s only once in a great while. I had to have my gall bladder taken out a couple years ago. On the list of reasons for gall stones was drinking tea. I’ve been gun shy ever since even though there were several other things from that list that applied to me also. But I did have a cup of tea last week. I did add milk and sugar. It was very enjoyable since I hadn’t drunk any tea for so long. I too like English breakfast. Earl Grey is on my list also. Glad you got your tea egg.

I am really enjoying my tea, especially with breakfast. My English parents only really drank tea. I had an aunt that managed 15 cups a day.

Amazon is my source of loose Darjeeling tea. English breakfast loose leaf blend is ok, too, but I’ve always been partial to that Darjeeling leaf when given a choice.
I agree with you going back to the loose leaf now that you’ve sourced it and have tea eggs to spare!
I have both a choice of a tea egg and an insert for my tea pot if I’m making a larger amount. I’m all American when it comes to that coffee for breakfast, but my heritage (Scottish, English) comes out later in the day when tea just calms and satisfies better than coffee.

It seems that Amazon are now delivering to Switzerland at last, so o will give it a try. I have tea pots, one with an insert for leaves so perhaps I might begin to brew a pot. Life is getting interesting again.

Amazon is addictive and has an amazing range of products. Hard to remember it started out as place to get books!

I grew up drinking tea out of the pot. Of course we are English so we have tea in our veins. David did not drink tea though so after we married I didn’t drink tea at home as often. He did come to enjoy brewed coffee and so did I so that’s what we had.
Naomi only drinks tea so now I’m back to drinking tea again but with tea bags because we now use mugs not cups like we used to with mum so a second cup s not required.
I actually like your idea of a tea egg, I think we call them tea infusers. I might get one. We still have tea pots but for just one cup the tea egg makes more sense.
Having said that the first thing I did after Naomi went out this morning was make myself a cup of coffee as I hardly ever have it any more.

I grew up on London and there was always a pot of tea ready. I never liked it as a kid, but the family were tea drinkers. I do have a pot at home, but it is too much for me alone. I have been drinking from tea bags for years and am glad to be drinking the real thing again. I put the used tea leaves on the garden afterwards. They are a good compost.

That’s something I learned as a child. We had a neighbour who put tea leaves on her garden, egg shells too. She had nice flowers so it must have worked.
