FOWC with Fandango: Home

Home is beginnin to look a little empty now. It has been a year since Mr. Swiss left for his golden holdie refuge and I had to adapt to a new way of life. It took about 9 months until I decided to have a new bedrrom for I, me and myself. I am alone all day until the evening when my son arrives from his workplace. Luckily Mr. Swiss in not far away and I can see him almost every day. Healthwise we are now both in a better condition, but the psychological effects remain and that will take some time to get used to. Home is where the neart is, but my heart now wanders from where I live to where Mr. Swiss lives.

  1. that’s such a lovely love-letter to M. I know another couple here, with a large house and everybody has left long ago. The woman just moved to a ‘protected’ flat in a Senior Residence, her husband of over 60years can’t bear (yet) to leave the house. So, they meet up each day, just as you do and only time will tell how much longer the now lonely man is joining his wife in an appartment which is adapted to older people.

    • I never imagined life would become something like this, a problem for me is also mobility. I have to rely on my scooter to get anywhere. There are clubs for golden oldies like myself but I have difficulties getting to the meetings.

  2. It took me a while to adapt my bedroom in my old house for single living. I eventually bought a single bed and it is just as well. Our old bed would never fit into the tiny bedroom I have now.
