  1. Oh my! That is a Swiss mountain pine! It would be expensive here. This is the lesser common of the two types that I encounter. The more common type is lower and denser, so grows as a semi-spherical mound. (The appeal escapes me, although it works very well for bonsai.) I believe that the Latin name is Pinus uncinata, but it may be Pinus uncinata subsp. mugo, or any variation of that. It seems like a simple species, but the names are complicated.
