I have American Beautyberry in my backyard, and it looks the same. Different country, different name, I think. Basically, still the same. I love this shrub–mine is huge.

Yes, the American beautyberry is Callicarpa americana. Another blogger sent me six seedlings from Virginia! I wanted the wild species, rather than a cultivar. I am very pleased with them. Bodinier beautyberry is Callicarpa bodinieri. It is an Asian species that is more popularly cultivated.
