Fandango’s Provocative Question: Watching TV

This is my Television, inside this cabinet in the corner of the living room. No, you cannot see it and have to open the doors to watch. I have not bothered to open the doors since the last three months and do not miss it.

I now live on my own, Mr. Swiss is in a golden oldie home. We have got used to our new way of life and he has no television where he is. He does not miss it and I stopped watching the television also. It no longer interests me. Living in Switzerland we get programmes from all over the country: the Swiss French speaking, the Swiss italian speaking and our German speaking area. I also get the British television and stations from France, Italy and Austria as well as a few other countries, but my TV stays silent. I no longer have any interest in watching. And so I watch the TV 0 hours a day. We have two televisions, the other set belonging to no. 1 son, but he only watches in the evening and not always. I do not rrecord programmes, and honestly speaking I do not even know how to do it. When Mr. Swiss was at home he was the TV technician, but he no longer has any interest.

And so the doors remain closed on my television cabinet. Perhaps I should open them now and again to wipe off the dust. I do not even know if the TV still functions. What I do know is that I paid 335 Swiss Francs this week for the annual TV licence. I have an iPad and iPhone, but not for watching TV programmes.

I do not often answer the provocative question, but probably I am the one being provocative now. What am I doing this evening. After the evening meal I will take my Kindle and continue to read my book.

    • Mr. Swiss got it many years ago and it has served its purpose well. it is originally Italian. It was good to close the doors in the evening when television time was finished, and now they remain closed.
