Not sure if it will be a good evening, we just had a few drops of rain, but nothing serious up to now. The garden can do with some moisture at the moment. It was a strange day for me, completely alone – almost. My son arrived mid afternoon, disappeared in the shower and after an hour disappeared again. He is off to a rock concert in town and will only return in the early hours of the morning. He has even taken a days holiday tomorrow to recover from the sleepless night. Mr. Swiss was off with his golden oldie refuge groupies on a day trip to the Swiss Lake of Thun (pronounced “Toon”) so I was left to my own devices. He called me to say he has returned safely, but is now quite worn out and is looking forward to a good night’s sleep.

It all began with lunch when I indulged in one of my favourites which i suppose only appeals to those that like garlic. It was spaghetti with garlic cooked in butter and mixed with prawns. I enjoyed it very much and celebrated with a two hour sleep afterwards after lunch. Yes, so is the life of a female golden oldie when living in isolation. It has been many years after shaking off the yoke of brining up the kids and generally putting everyone else first. Now it is my turn and I am enjoying it.

Otherwise I stayed at home. I will be off to the dentist tomorrow afternoon and that will be enough action until the end of the week. My garden is looking quite good at the moment and everything is growing nicely.

My herb bed is looking quite good with its mixture of chives, rosemary, thyme, sage, origano and savoury. I have had this bed for a few years and it has developed very well. It is in front of the kitchen full length window door, so I can just pop into the garden and cut what I need for cooking the food. I like to add flavour to my dishes.

And that was my day. Now the sun has appeared and I will be making myself a toast Hawaii for the evening meal: bead with a slice of ham, pineapple and topped with cheese, all toasted in the oven with a sprinkle of paprica. What a good foody day today.
