Retired and Enjoying Every Minute of It
I am Ahmed Abdi, a Wordpress blogger and storyteller who searches for stories that inspire people. I love writing because it’s a reflection of how I perceive the world around me. Lost in a world of endless chaos in my childhood, Unforgettable moments of tragedy and triumphs taught me the art of storytelling where I found myself through letter writing and then turned into stories but then sadly had lost everything I wrote for years. In 2018, I decided to create a Wordpress blog site that would allow me to store and retrieve every piece. Stories from my community, city and people are what make my writing so interesting and inspiring! I’m a tea lover so a cup of tea sometimes makes my blog.

Wow, these have long stems. I have heard of buttercups, but have never seen them. The native sort stay very close to the ground.

I have only known them with long stems, also in England.

I believe that is normal, since they stand up above turf grass. Ours stay so low that they continue to bloom in regularly mown lawns, but I doubt that is typical of other species.

Ours are kind of medium stems — not as tight to the ground as some I’ve seen, but not tall. Did they tell you as a child that if you hold a buttercup under your chin and it reflect yellow, that you must love butter? It was one of those silly childhood myths.

We don’t have any here, in England we used to make buttercup chains, and daisy chains, neither of which are here. We do have Clover.

Buttercups grow wild here. Clover is everywhere.

Yes, it is like that where I was born, Sedgley in England.
Australia is too hot this far north for wild buttercups, clover does well. I found a 4 leaved one in 1969 the morning when I went to do my Maths exam. ( year 10 School Cert.) Passed with flying colours
