I went to town this afternoon and arrived just at the time to see our carnival figure being placed for the evening. It is stuffed with fireworks and it will be burnt in the evening to celebrate the end of the carnival..

I have a completely different routine now. I am on my own during the day with Mr. Swiss in his residence and my No. 1 son working full time during the day, so I am left to my own devices. I did my usual cleaning routine in the morning and ate a small snack for lunch.

Sliced mushrooms in a white wine cream sauce on toast, one of my favourites.
Aftewards a midday sleep and then I went to town. Mr. Swiss really needed new slippers and I had some business at one of the banks.

In between I managed a couple of photos of my feathered friendsl

I am really not sure what this is. I thought it might be a female blackbird, but I had never seen the patterns on its breast before. It might be a starling. If anyone recognises it, let me know.
Mr. Swiss is now a permanent guest in his senior home. He was classified as a holiday guest, but he now has his own room and is officially a member of the home. He had a choice of rooms to choose from, but decided the room he has suits him. I am glad that it is now definitely settled.
And now after our evening meal which is actually dinner I will have a relaxing evening. Keep safe and well everyone. I will now compose my list of groceries for the next delivery.
Your lunch photo and description looks so delicious. And it must be such a weight off your shoulders to know that your husband is settled in for good. I have no idea about your black bird because my eyes aren’t so great but I enjoyed your birds and photos from town. Have a restful evening.

I’m so glad that this new arrangement has now become permanent — frequent change has been very unsettling for you, and now you can comfortably settle in to your own routine. I, too, like mushrooms in a cream sauce — I pan fry them in butter, and add sour cream. I hope the fireworks are well controlled — that looks like a pretty small space for them!

It is all gradually getting settled now with Mr. Swiss. The swiss tend to cook everything with cream and it was a very quick lunch to cook. It is a custom here on the last night of the carnival to burn the figure, but the fire engines are always waiting in case something might happen, although it never has.

I’m happy to hear about Mr Swiss. Hopefully, peace of mind for both of you. We’re having mushrooms for supper tonight. I’m a fan!

Things are getting a little more organised now, although Mr.Swiss is Mr. Swiss and his age does make him a little disagreeable now and again.

I love the sparrow picture and my guess is that brown bird is a lady starling. I’m very happy Mr Swiss is permanently “homed.” It’s hard to go through constant transition even when you’re not a grumpy older person and, at a certain age, I guess we’re all entitled to be a little grumpy from time to time. I say that suspecting that I might be a grumpy older person, but Bear and Teddy are not complaining so maybe not.. 🙂

After 52 years together you know each other. I thought that might be a starling. It was quite a big bird.

I am still getting used to my new routine. Cooking something light for my midday food and a dinner for No. 1 son and I in the evening.

Definitely a female blackbird – starlings have longer beaks. It must be such a relief that Mr Swiss is settled now – and he likes his room enought not to change it. Good sign.

I also thought it would be a blackbird although it was very big. He is slowly settling in although gets confused now and again.
