If it was not for the Autumn change of foliage colour, we would really have some bleak dreary mornings, the rising mist from the local river engulfing everything. However, where there is a will there is a way and I usually manage to find something to brighten up the morning. It was the best night of the year. I slept well and awoke with the happy thought that although it was my usual time, I had manage an hour longer hugging the bed. What a wonderful feeling, so welcome winter time. Although the evenings are now dark already at 4-5.00 p.m. I awoke to a bright morning without having to switch on all the lights as I groped my way to the kitchen. On the way I opened the blinds and put my washing away which had dried nicely overnight on my wash stand in the apartment. Of course I could hang it in my laundry room, there is plenty of space, but I do not have so much and it dries nicely overnight in the home. No-one sees it and the job is done in a few minutes. Just a few items to iron later during the day some time.
The local bird population are now in the picture that Mrs. Angloswiss has decked the food table and they are regular visitors, usually a mixture of tits and sparrows.
And then this guy or dame arrived. They go for the big treats, the ones in the shell, but no problem for a crow.
They just wedge it in their beak and
once safely clamped it flies off with its reward. I do not know where they go afterwards, but probably in a secluded spot where they can hammer, munch and crunch to their beak’s delight. I wonder if I should invite Sir David Attenborough to record the events in my garden, although probably not interesting enough for a British nature film: a little Swiss village is not so important.
Today will be a quiet Sunday, nothing special. We have a drizzle of constant rain in the air. Nothing serious, but I am not sure if I can escape today for a wheelie. It is also good to relax at home with no stress. I spent some time this morning adjusting the clock devices on my oven and micro wave. I just had to reduce it by an hour, but easier said than done. I wonder why the instructions in the book have to be so complicated, and for me exra complicated as it is all in technical German.
I just had a visit from my Eurasien jay again, as well as two magpies, but I take their photos with my big camera, so I will have to upload them before placing them here. Two magpies also arrived. At the moment I just have the normal bird seed outside. I now reserve the peanuts and walnuts for the afternoon, as I can take photos more relaxed.
Now I am off to deal with the daily tasks with an eye on the outside for the arrival of something completely different.
I also had a visit yesterday from Joux-joux one of the local cats. I saw her walking past, after all it is now bird time for the felines.
She stopped to sharpen her claws on one of my trees and turned her head upwards, noticing there was the fluttering of appetising wings above.
And now I am gone, so have a good day, enjoy or sleep well for those in far away countries. Roschti the local cat also sends his greetings. He looked in as he was passing through. Naturally he eollected a few goodies on the way.

I was just going, you are early, although it is now an hour earlier here. We only have all saints day when the cemeteries are suddenly full of visitors. We have a national holiday. Have a good Sunday in your part oif the world.

We have crows and jackdaws visiting our garden and they really like the fat balls we put out for the birds. They are in a metal holder that we hook on to the washing line post so all the birds can get at them.
The crows and jackdaws have taken to pulling it from the post to the ground and eating them there where it is much easier for them. So now the fat balls are being eaten really quickly in just over a day and we see the fat ball holder move all over the lawn as the crows try to get the food out.

I haven’t yet got the fat balls, but they are on order for next week. I also have to bind them well on the post. It’s lovely to see the birds again in the garden with some action. The Eurasien jays are becoming a regular visitor. They are nothing like the Bluejays which we don’t have.

Roschti is as lively as ever. He called past at least three times today and sometimes enters the apartment, but is no problem. Since I have no cats I am glad to see him

Reminds me of a boxer dog that called at the place I lived at when I was a toddler. We had lost the family dog due to cancer, and that was a boxer, too. So my little self called the stranger dog Coco, too. I did not understand, why grandma would always phone and have him taken away (by the rightful owners, but I did not understand that). He wore a small pocket at his collar with the money for a local call and the owner’s phone number in it. And he came around often enough that I still remember. As if he wanted to comfort us.

What a wondeerful idea to give tbe dog money to call home if lost. Luckily the neighbour knows where to find Roschti, although he rarely has to search. He just calls his name

Good Morning!
Will you get Trick or Treaters tonight? I suspect that in a culture that does not celebrate Halloween, children would need to work harder for their goodies, by visiting more neighbors to find those who happen to get a big bowl of candy for them.

We have absolute no connection to Halloween in Switzerland – no tricks or treaters and kids that try to do it stand before closed doors or are told to go away. We have no halloween. The store tried it once but had to sell everything at half prices afterwards. The only thing to see in a store are dresses for a halloween party, for the kids. We have no bowl of candy here.

Halloween is overrated anyway. I really dislike it, although it is fun to see the children enjoy it. Otherwise, it is just another excuse to get drunk and behave stupidly. Some of the costumes are quite offensive. The sun just went behind the mountains, so it will get dark soon. I will stay here and close the gate early.

We have those suet balls too. We have had to put them out over empty space because the raccoons with their little finger pop open the holders and leave — carrying the suet with them. Those raccoons are little devils!

No raccoons here, now that would make a good photo. We only might have field mice, but in Winter they stay in warmer places, like in my shed and build their nests.

Wow! Another amazing post. Okay, both of the kitties are adorable, but the first one, the tabby totally steals the show. The sparrow and finch are cute. I’ve always been fascinated by crows. I love those shots as well!
