It had to be the Swiss alps: a view from the top of the hill in our village, where the local castle is, on a clear day. I have never actually climbed them, but taken the train that goes through the inside of the mountains. It stops at the Jungfrau with a wonderful view of all the surrounding mountains, although due to the thin air on the heights you can get quite giddy . If the weather is really playing well, I can even see the tips of the mountains from our garden, although it would be at least 1-2 hours to reach them from our village by road.
RDP Thusday: Vast
Oh my–a wonderful vast, Pat.

Gorgeous photo. I live at an altitude near to that of the Jungfraujoch. Last time I was there, a friend in Zürich asked if I felt faint up there and I didn’t get why she asked, then I remembered. 😛

I really had problems with the air pressure. I heard they have to cook water in a pressure cooker

the boiling point at a high altitude is lower so it takes longer for things to cook. I don’t use a pressure cooker, I just take more time. At 9000 ft (Jungfraujoch) water boils at 90c. Where I live, 91c. Those guys who climb in the Himalaya have a lot of trouble just melting snow or making tea. I tried explaining this to my Swiss friend when he moved to Colorado, but it just made him crazy. 😀

That is certainly something completely different. I have a pressure cooker but never use it.

Now it makes sense when I would see high-altitude baking instructions on cake mixes. I didn’t get it!
