  1. This is Spanish lavender, Lavandula stoechas. In our chaparral climate it is somewhat common. I think that French and English lavenders are more popular in regard to what gets planted intentionally, but Spanish lavender naturalizes, and appears where it is not planted. Besides lavender, it can be darker purple, pink, blue or white.
