Good Morning

Another snowy morning and it is still snowing. I do not think we have had such a snowy Winter for some time. Last year we had a few days of snow, but this Winter, in January in particular, it has snowed almost daily. I am so thankful for my online ordering system, although deliveries are also a little later due to the snow on the roads. I do not know what I would have done without them. I can even order daily for a few items and there is no extra cost for delivery, but I like to keep it to two deliveries in the week. Yesterday I organised the week-end food. It becomes a routine, but I have to be careful not to forget anything. It really needs concentration.

My little robin is getting more adventurous daily and this morning he was sitting direct in front of my kitchen window, so I took a few photos. Whilst there was a group of sparrows all enjoying a group feed on the other side of the garden. My robin never mixes with the other birds. I only see the robin in winter, but am hoping that he might put in a few appearances next Summer.

I am really quite in stress this morning. My printer again lost the connection yesterday and this morning I wasted time on getting it connected again, although Mr. Swiss did the connecting. His computer was printing with no problem, but mine was not. Luckily he got it working eventually. Since living an online life with ordering food and other items, I like to keep printed records of what is ordered.

The snow is piling up outside and as the weather forecast has predicted more this week, we will eventually be submerged in the white stuff.

And this is a very short one this morning, as I lost so much time with various problems. I have lunch to cook, and also again wish to bake a bread (silly me), although that does not take so long as my machine does it for me. Have a good day, and make the most of it. I will be enjoying the indoor life watching the snow falling.

      • if we have extra bread or vegetables we feed the birds and animals in the back yard and there had been many kinds at times including sparrows

        • I used to feed the birds with my bread remains, but it seems it is not so good for them. It was mostly the crows that ate the bread. I have bird food, mostly seeds, but I only feed them in Winter. In Summer they have enough insects from the surroundings.

          • bread crumbs are cool yet the aqdditives and preservatives are a problem according to reports in their digestive tract. yet crows do have a remarkable high IQ or intellegence, that was a study group. Cats? Look at the ingredients for treats, ground corn isnt all that great for the digestive track for cats, it caused constipation in cats, to cord, or ground corn that was mentioned a few times by many people in many study groups corn was being used as a additive to make other parts of foods on earth last longer and it was a incredible way to make cash by putting corn in with less food of what manufacturers waa doing, its sota like watering down milk or alcohol, yet in the case of foods, cats in the wild dont eat ground corn mush less corn itself. When its in treats or wet foods or other foods for cats they get fooled by the other floavors and end up eating it anyways as they dont have have a chioice being domesticated.

          • early springtime cleaning. instead of waiting for the beginning of spring to start the springtime whole house cleaning, I thought I’d get a head start. There’s a lot to clean.

      • We bought more birdseed. The animals couldn’t dig so well under all the snow and ice to get food, so we went and bought birdseed at least to help the friendly animals have some food to eat. I gave them leftover lettuce that went bad after one week, the leaves began to brown in a sealed bag we were buying it in so I fed the animals with that. It’s amusing when people grasp how important having animals and insects really are as they are an important balance to Earth’s ecosystem.

    • when I had DSL line connections, lack of wireless even the phone was hardlined to the telephone pole, when it was just a normal desktop pc with DSL, with lack of wifi, the lack of problems was illuminating as I hadn’t then suffered from intellectual property theft or thefts of one’s one idea that usually was inventions I made prototypes to. I’ve got cases of intellectual property theft that lacked proper address.

    • All our birds seem to be getting a bit wider around the tummy. I am really having success with my bread baking and it is almost becoming a regular thing. Only on Tuesday I do not bake as the cleaning lady is here and I do not have the time. I also do not bake on Friday or the week-end as we do not need so much bread.

  3. Mister Bump UK has the right idea, though I struggle with the Wi-Fi simply because of the arrangement of the room where my computer and printer are. Best wishes for keeping the connection going. Nothing is more aggravating than losing your send a print order a little distance from the computer to the printer without having to have a wired connection! When I had to get a new printer, it took me weeks before I worked out the simple (seemingly always this way) solution that re-established my Wi-Fi connection that allowed me to print at home.

    • Everything is working again OK, Mr. Swiss fixed it this morning. We have a wireless system that our comuter guy fixed up for us, but now and again it loses the connection. We have a few computers in our home.

  4. Wow, that is a lot of snow, but it does look pretty. I can hear the birds and squirrels in the trees, but I don’t see too many birds in the yard. I wonder if they know the cats are around?

    • It has been snowing all day, but I must admit it is very pretty outside. The birds have enough to eat in my territory and seem to be satisfied. The squirrels don’t come to us but prefer to stay in the nearby forest. Even our cats have now got a bit scarce with the snow. I gave them some treats this morning and now they have disappeared. Probably curled up in their homes.

  5. Good morning, It is still dark outside and the winter storm has not started. I am up earlier. Sorry to read about your stress. It doesn’t take much to get stressful at our age. Things you used to do are no longer easy. There are jars and opening parcels that now takes longer. I am up and dress and made my bed. I don’t envy your snow, it may be pretty but it difficult to work in it. I hope by now the stress is easier and have a good rest of the day.

    • It has not stopped snowing all day, but I am rewarded with so many birds in my garden having a feed. My little robin now comes up to my window and the sparrows are now joined by the bigger birds such as blackbirds. I had a nice long sleep after lunch and backed my bread. I am now relaxing listening to some good soothing classical music in my ear buds. That does not bother Mr. Swiss so much whilst he is watching the TV.

  6. It started snowing her on Monday afternoon, then proceeded to snow for a full 24 hours and left behind 6 -10 inches. Hard to tell the exact amount as the wind was blowing so there was some drifting. I looks beautiful, and I don’t mind shoveling the driveway. Now I’m wondering if I should start baking bread. Yours sounds wonderful/

    • As I am now homebound, I decided to do something useful with my time. My first loaf was a real miss, but now I have the routine to the effect that I am baking bread at least three times a week. Wholewheat, half white or brown flour – I do them all and Mr. Swiss loves it. It snowed all day and might continue tomorrow,. I have MS and my mobility is not so good. I usually have a scooter, sometimes an electric wheelchair, but now I fully rely on home deliveries and it is working very well. Luckily I have a freezer chest with a food reserve

  7. I really love your photo’s of the birdhouses and the many types of birds you’ve taken pictures of. Birds are a more natural way to rid of mosquitos. I made a few of my own birdhouses, one of them is a three-in-one birdhouse yet made the holes too big and the sparrows won’t go in due to the holes are too big yet other birds went in the were a bit larger. I’m not kidding. Your photos must and need to be used, I’m thinking, with groups that help restore natural habitats.

    • At the moment the birds are almost all I have to take photos, but we do not have a large choice. Sparrows and tits are everywhere, even a robin. The crows and magpies are keeping their distance.
