It’s a bright sky this morning, so not too bad. It rained during the night, but has now stopped. I might even venture out today for the first time in three weeks. I have been at home for a long while. I can order my groceries comfortably on line with the exception of frozen goods, although I have enough in the freezer and avoid cooking frozen when I can get fresh. However, I should stock up on some. Our online deliveries do not have refrigerated vans, although they pack the fresh goods very well.
I also managed to break my last large sizes microwave glass for cooking yesterday. I always use the same sort, in various sizes, but the glass is quite fragile and if you open the cupboard and the glass container drops out into the sink below (thank goodness and not the floor) it shatters quite easily. Another reason for an excursion to the store where I can buy a replacement. I find I am often dropping things lately, probably another MS development, although it is usually the small items, but now and again something more fragile and bigger. Luckily I have a so-called grabber to pick items up.
I had another visiter yesterday on the birdhouse. I am not sure what they are called, but I found the photo of a marsh tit which quite resembles it.
I was surprised to read that the masks we are wearing for protection against the dreaded Covid are not the best. There is now a more expensive type, thicker with more protection and naturally much more expensive. I am quite happy with the one I have and I am not going to buy something more expensive. The type of mask you wear now seems to be becoming a bit of a status symbol . I have enough problems with the normal mask when my glasses tend to steam up.
My feline visitor appeared this morning at the window as usual. His visits are now increasing during the day, but I am not feeding him every time he appears., although sometimes it is difficult to resist those pleading eyes. For a 15 year old cat he is in quite good shape. I have known him since he was a kitten. How time flies.
And now my time is flying and I should get on with my daily chores. I should now go to the garage and disconnect my scooter as I have been uploading it again in preparation for today’s tour. Have a good beginning to the week-end and wear a mask, keep your distance and all that jazz – you know it all by now.
Our snow has now almost all disappeared, however it is still hanging on the local Jura mountains.
Hope you have a great weekend

I struggled with this at the start of the pandemic. The virus size is about 100 microns, so even for medical-grade masks, that is still pretty small. I didn’t see how a mask would stop it. But they did, mostly.
The proof will be, if people wearing the “old” masks start to become infected in large numbers.
I find eyesight plays a large part in dropping things. I put something somewhere, I think it is safe, then… bang!

I am slowly getting confised with all these different masks and methods. It seems to me everyone has a different opinion on what to do. I have a basic mask, which is generally the one everyone buys and I have probelms with them. I have discovered the best method is to stay at home.
My eyesight is OK, but I would be due for one of those eye lens replacements one day. At the moment there is no point in having anything done, until this virus begins to take a holiday. Mr. Swiss had it done last year and it was a total success

I have foregone anything medical this last year and my eyes have suffered as a result. As for masks… I have always worn the same as the medical people. I figure that they will be wearing the most appropriate masks. But for me it was easy because Mrs Bump just brought some home from work. It can get very confusing. I did some research into standards last April but have long since forgotten. There is (unsurprisingly) an EU standard. Would you like me to dig out what I found? I think I posted it.

I think we have EU standard. Everyone seems to be wearing the same as I have

Good Morning from Canada 🇨🇦.. and yes I can’t wear my glasses as the mask steams them up.

And now we are told to double-mask. I got a mask that has the little wire on top that I can bend over my nose and that seems to stop the fogging up of my glasses.

All our masks have the wire at the top to bend over the nose, but it is still not the perfect solution. Double mask is probably safer as the covid virus is very small.

Good Morning!
That is a bummer about the glass. Is that one of those Pyrex pans? Those were cool inventions. They were popular before microwave ovens became popular, but just happen to work like ‘microwave-safe’ pans. Unfortunately, when they break, the bits are sharper and harder than common glass. They can severely damage a vinyl floor.

It was microwave glass, and it is quite thin and brittle. I was lucky it fell into the sink below and not on the floor. I am a succour for punishment and bought a reaplacement today. They are really good for cooking veg in the microwave oven.

Good afternoon, the sun is out but it is cold outside. I am not sure the mask helps but masks has become a social theme so wear them. I felt social distancing is more helpful. COVID-19 is so new there is much to learn about it. Mealybugs have not reappeared so I hope Kathy managed to them all. Your orchids bloom last summer and mine didn’t so mine might different species/varieties. My eyes cause me to dropped items. I even had pot fly out of my hands. I am dropping more recently and knocking of things near. It is all caused by my eyes not working together. Did you have a fun journey into town? Have stress free evening.

It was strange to go into town again after so long, but it was really empty. There were so few people , it was more like a Sunday afternoon than a Saturday. Also the stores were very empty and it is strange to walk through streets where nearly all the stores are closed. However I mnaged to get a few bits an pieces at last that I needed. Life is so much different now. I sometimes feel like I am living at the time of the Great Plague in Britain.

If the store has more people than usual I have been double masking. I’m not sure it will work if close to an infected person but worth giving it a try
