Beautiful flowers! Does it have a scent? We use the powdered root a lot for cooking too.

Sorry. Should have been more clear. I had no idea about the beautiful white flower it produces, I’ve only used the spice in cooking (and tea).

They mainly have pink flowers, as well as white

It is related to ginger, and several gingers are grown more for their pretty or fragrant flowers than for their culinary application. The only ginger here is Kahili ginger, which is fragrant like gardenias. Culinary ginger is not quite as pretty, and doe not perform as well here. It is sensitive even to very mild frost.

Yes, culinary ginger is similar. Kahili ginger is physiologically similar too, but does not look like it is.

It is not a plant that grows naturally here, as our climate is too cold in Winter
