FOWC with Fandango: Ridiculous

“This is ridiculous, since we arrived at the human supermarket we get tied up and she disappears.”

“Quite right, but I can smell her, she is not far away.”

“Of course not, she is sitting in the restaurant drinking her coffee, ignoring us and talking to someone.”

“I know, and the someone she is talking to is the owner of our friend Fido tied up over there.”

“At least he is barking for attention. That gives me an idea, let’s bark as well.”

“Forget it, all of us are barking for attention and we are just being ignored.”

“I have an idea. You remember that vampire film on the human TV where the wolves were howling.”

“Yes, sounded quite good.”

“I am sure we can do that as well, but just a moment. Fido, listen, can you how like a wolf?”

“Of course, no problem.”

“Then let’s all do it together.”

The result was an empty restaurant when the ladies had to collect their dogs after the other customers complained about the noise.

RDP Tuesday: What Next?

In October we had the Christmas season although it was not yet December
We were hanging up decorations already in November
Christmas Carols were being sung, on the radio they were everywhere
And now Christmas has been and gone but did we really care?
Now we are ready for the next wave
So what about a New Year rave
Only a few days, the stores clearing the shelves
Already making room for our carnival elves
Carnival is end of February, it cannot come soon enough
After Christmas Pudding we eat pancakes dressed up in carnival stuff
And all through these seasons there is a very red thread
It is called a pandemic, unfortunately rhyming with dead
So let us make a week of days with Christmas, New Year and Easters
Fitting in a pancake day, for constant enjoyment of feasters
Life is short, make the most of it all
Business, profits must continue, enjoy and have a ball

RDP Tuesday: What Nest?

Good Morning

Another wonderful sunrise this morning and what is even better, it is warmer and I could only hear the sound of melting snow. It is now disappearing and when everything goes well I will be out and about again today. I even noticed a little rain is expected so what could be better to clear it all away. I had a real taste of Winter yesterday and what could be. I was really housebound, no chance of going anywhere either by scooter or local train, but luckily I have No. 1 son who gladly went to the local store. He even went into town for the groceries in the larger supermarket and called in at the chemist as my Vitamin D drops were at an end. He might be autistic, but when he has a purpose he fulfils it no matter what and I can really rely on him. I have also learned something from the Winter problems. I am now covered this week for what I need more or less and today I can get what is necessary in the store. I will be having an online delivery on Wednesday and will be making a new online order today to be delivered next week on Monday just to be sure that I am covered for next week in case of another attack by snow.

At least being homebound keeps me away from Mr. Covid. I noticed that cases are a little less (only a little) in our country, probably due to an isolated life over Christmas. We are still having our Swiss problems, but our village has been free from any new cases, and we have a population of 950 approximately.

I have had a new visitor in the garden over the past couple of days. Yesterday I took the chance to capture a few photos. He was nicely sitting in the tree opposite. The result was 60 photos. It is now clearly one of our jays. Last year I remember having a pair that were visiting and either they have returned, or it is the next genration. I have no idea where they nest, but probably in the nearby forest.

At least life gets interesting with my birds.

I also had a visit from a blue tit, which I believe are called chickadees in the States. I am becoming an amateur ornithologist slowly, but it is the only variety I have at the moment.

I was again left with the TV when Mr. Swiss retired to bed yesterday evening, but was a little disappointed. After watching our favourite soap, East Enders, there was really nothing very interesting to watch and I am fed up with the eternal silly, stupid quiz programmes with people exposing themselves as idiots. I do not mind general knowledge which I can also have a try at the answers like Mastermind, University Challenge or even Pointless, but some programmes are really an insult to your intelligence.

As I did not go anywhere yesterday to get something for lunch I am left with a deep freeze choice.I have a pack of prawns of which I only need half and a mixture of various fresh veg in the fridge, so I decided on an Angloswiss creation of a pan fry accompanied by some pasta and I should really use the vegetable before it becomes unusable.

And now to carry on with daily life. By the way I was writing this piece, as I usually do, to the accompaniment of my current favourite Global British radio station Classic FM on my iPad or iPhone. They really have a wonderful selection of classical music, almost a hit parade of the best. I like almost all types of music, but sometimes you need something smooth and reassuring, so give me Beethoven, Mozart and Bach any time, combined with some Chopin and Prokofiev: with some opera mixed in it is the perfect mixture.

So have a good day everyone and make the most of it. I was really down yesterday due to the weather, but today everything looks different and the solutions have presented themselves, even if our local mountain is slowly being iced by snow.
